will make time to read back as soon as I can. NSD number one yesterday and think today and tomorrow will be too. Although DH needs some tablets so I guess he may buy them today, although think that is ok for a NSD?

Anyway, just checking in so I don't forget, let time run away with myself and then give up before I start!

I have just had a text from a friend asking if i want to meet her in town for a coffee obvs my beloved costa is off limits so going to ask her to come to my house and have a coffee and a gossip here instead.

Woohoo. Just got a £15 cheque through the door for completing surveys on an app on my phone. Got the link through Sw4gbucks a few weeks ago. It is for contact lens wearers, you just log in twice a day and say how comfy your contact lenses are feeling! I seem to remember they said it was £5 a week (if you do 2 everyday) and a £20 bonus when you've completed a month! Fingers crossed, this continues as that could be £40 extra a month :)

Good point PheoniX, do charity donations count as spends NSK? I haven't included my monthly DD to charities as spends but imagine a one off car wash donation probably does.

Oh well, still massively chuffed about the £15 cheque, wonder if there is a bank open today where I can cash it in :)

  • Hello all!

It's great to see everyone so determined and everyone who did so very well in October too!! I'm sorry I don't post every day but don't worry - I am reading!! I'm like a creepy net stalker! :rotfl::rotfl:

If I'm allowed to mention last month I think my best points were:
    • not buying ANY lunches for the whole month at work!
    • only getting 1 coffee (part of a work meeting - got one for colleague as well (2.50 for both))
    • still only vaping with my e-cig (since August now) and no money spent on them cause I have the e-liquids so gone from over 100 quid to zero!
    • got 800 quid PPI reclaimed - this is being split to a big shop and credit card
    • managing 18 NSDs - 2 more than in September!

    failures:
    • still gave in to the OH too much when he wanted something
    • this included little trips to sainsbobs to get him 'treats' so no giving in to him this month!!!!!!!

Well - I haven't finalised bills yet but I do know we've got some big spends coming along this month namely (dun dun duuuuun) the MOT!!!!:eek::eek:

So here's how this month looks so far:
    NSDs: 1/25

No social events planned (except see below)
1 planned date night with OH 0/1 (budget 30 quid - we have a taste-card to use this month as a free trial!)

    Spends:
MOT 0/500 (this was put aside over the past few months so will not be an additional expenses, hoping it will only be 300 and then we can use excess for debts)

Family: 0/100 (spending 4 days with family so this will cover petrol and newspapers/food for his parents while we visit them)

Food - done a GIANT shop to be delivered later today :eek: but split the shop and did the best offers from 0cado as also got 25 quid off our first shop (savings were 40 quid, then took off 25 quid and free delivery so that was good). The rest from te8co for own brands also got over 12 quid off with vouchers (and used a double points voucher so fingers crossed we can get money off for another one in the future).

So this is enough staples for the larder for 3 months minimum (hopefully!!) but I was very realistic with myself - we spend the most money going for snacks after work so I made sure I got some so we don't overspend on the 'luxury' ones from the express supermarkets!

Well - it might be around 300 quid in total!:eek::eek:
but.....we have NOTHING in our cupboards anymore so it needed to be done! It includes all groceries, cleaning products and toiletries/beauty products as well!!!

Giving us an excess of 100 quid for fresh fruit and veg and small amount of meat for the rest of the month - also got him 30 quid of tobacco in that internet shop so this could be his whole quota for the month (fingers crossed!!).

MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS FOR MAKING THIS MONTH A SUCCESS - knowing there is enough to eat at home!! I'm not going to let the psychology of shopping beat me and I AM going to clock up 25 NDSs!!!!!!

    Hoorah! :j:j:j:j
    Let's do this! :D

    xx
(PS - apologies for the long post :o)

PPS - Dunno if I mentioned but I include OH in the NSD count cause all the money comes from a central 'fund' so he is ready to go too! eeeek!!!!!!! This is going to take some careful planning! He needs a haircut now - he looks funny!!!! :) )

Things to focus on harder on next time:

Two things... one is that you haven't failed. You have just found something that you need to focus on harder next time. Sometimes you don't foresee a challenge being quite so challenging and complex, that is not a failure unless you let it beat you and just give up. And judging by your post you aren't giving up, therefore it is not a failure. (and this is not a rant, sorry. just trying to give you a more positive spin on that).
    :o

Secondly... cut his hair for him!! it would be fun. I used to do it to my barbie dolls all the time so it can't be that hard.
    ;)

More sensibly, maybe tell him that he can use part of his £100 for his haircut?? It is his hair after all.
    :)

Good luck with your challenge C-R. (I hope this post didn't come across as mean or anything. it's just failure is such a negative word when you are meant to be so positive).

    Hey stewby!
not harsh at all! but probably needed! :A
You are right - this is all a learning curve for all of us, don't you just sometimes wish tightening the belt was easy and we didn't give in to our cravings? Thats the challenge for both me and OH this month! :D

I would hate to cut his hair - i can't see straight lines so I'd just keep going round and round pudding bowl style till there was no hair left (like MY barbie dolls!) :rotfl::rotfl: but you're right - I'll get him to take it out of his 'fun' money!

I promise not to use the word failure anymore!! thank you for the bottom kick it was much needed! :o

Just like my barbie dolls then. I blame santa for buying me the "fake barbie" hairdrssing salon one year. If you're going to hand an eight year old a hair dressing set that has a pair of scissors then you are going to get haircuts. Simple.
    ;)

Glad you didn't take offence. I just didn't want you to feel down or negative. And I am really glad you were able to understand what I meant and even put it better. (to think I was going to be a journalist and I can barely write sense).
    :p

Anyways... it is a challenge and we are all on a learning curve which is why we need to support each other. If we all knew exactly what we were doing then we wouldn't be on this thread for guidance and support.
    :)

My big problem this month is that I am already planning to use my first spend day!! We are going to morries and tescimos later.
I was going to buy OH a sirloin steak as a treat but looking at the price, I think I am going to ditch it. He can enjoy mince like the rest of us. It's basically the same thing anyways. I might even make it into a steak shape.
    :rotfl:

Maybe if it is a yellow label then I will consider it.
    ;)

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
