  • Brrr its cold outside today. Still it's good for the SFD's - stopped me nipping out to the shops to get chocolate when I wanted some an hour ago as I had just got warmed up from getting in earlier!

    SFD16/25
    Lunch to work 13/18
    Food £78.27/£100 (including foodbank donation)

    Foodbank £3.59/£3
    Toiletries £3/£10
    Moneymade £7.09/£80
  • Hi all
    SFD today :)
Have made money as well selling a watch (£5- on intranet so no fees) and just sold something for £19.99 on eBay :j will work out in morning after fees and update total. Got a mystery shop booked tomorrow and one for next week as well so looking good :)

Bad news is completing on my remortgage in just over a week and just looked at the paperwork for current mortgage and noticed I need to pay £140 exit fee :( still don't know how much I need to pay off it either yet as not got the redemption figure. Will be around £1200 (borrowed less to get better deal) I have enough for the £1200 and £140 but so much expense. Costing around £1500 in fees/solicitors as well as the £1200 so finances a bit up in air. Normal mortgage payment is due same day I am completing so it's likely they will also take that I will need to wait for it to be refunded :( solicitor said I can't cancel it. Means no payments to debts until it is all sorted but will then be a nice big one :)

Sorry. Been very tired and fell asleep pretty much as soon as I got home so no update from me yesterday.
    :o

Anyways... OH's job interview thing went well but it wasn't an interview.

It was a pre-assessment interview prior to the real interview... so no confirmation on a job.
    :(

However, we have another two spend-free days so that is now 17!! I made biscuits yesterday cause the shift was really busy and stressful. Diet is on hold until after disneyland.
    :undecided

Sorry NSK. I know it is completely weird but it is something that I have wanted for a few years. (I could call it a medicinal spend as it is to help me remember what I am supposed to do and when. My memory is very very poor).
    :embarasse

My finances are a bit messed up just now so will have to have a rethink on everything.
    :(

Anyways... I have spent about 2 hours writing this so I suppose I better post it now.

Super keen, straight to the top of the class :D I keep thinking it's almost December but there's a whole week left  Payday will probably be on Thursday - the payday shuffle will be exciting as it will be my first overpayment to what will now be known as my only loan :T Not quite as exciting as your payday Kat :T:T:T:T

So, it would seem stewby and I are in cahoots after all. I went to the Apple store today to buy a new laptop. I negotiated a 8% discount and a free one-to-one hour with an Apple Genius (or whatever they're called) which has a £79 value. Not quite the 15% I can get via my work but that would have to be sent to me and I would need to take a day off work for the delivery (losing earnings) so I signed and sealed the deal at the Apple Store! I was going to pay with my 5% cashback credit card but it got declined (for no reason...unless you count using for the first time in over a year a reason!?!). I tried to call them but there was a fault in their phone lines and I kept getting cut off  Did you cast a spell Kat? Are you sticking to your word of forbidding the purchase :rotfl: Not happy as a) I had to spend twice as long typing reports tonight which I would have zipped through with my new computer! and b) I need to go back again tomorrow (assuming I can sort the payment out) - more petrol, more parking. I shall be having words with the credit card company!

I know what you mean thrifty about questioning the price of things. I love that you are weighing up the value of the jeans against how much they cost :T It's the price of a pizza or a bottle of wine that most of us wouldn't have thought twice about buying before. I am watching a winter coat on ebay - currently £11 with two days to go. I may bid as high as £15 but no more!! I could really do with a parka style coat for throwing on after yoga and this one is my size (and nice) but if I can't get it for £15, I don't want it!

So, my planned spend day turned into a SFD after all! Free street parking after 6.30, 50p for a yellow stickered hummous salad dinner from M+S and nil spends in the Apple store.

And last night's planned outing turned into a night in with a lentil stew at my friend's house instead :money: At the beginning of the month I wondered which of my two planned nights out would get the chop as per Kat's rules...turns out they both did :D

So, like the rest of you, I shall soldier on with the few pennies left in my purse and aim for SFDs from now on!
  • Hi All

Had a poorly boy for a couple of days so not been on much as he has been wanting my attention bless him. He started with a cold and sore throat and then a temp on thursday. Early hours of friday he was sick and so yesterday was a pajama day. Thursday his dad looked after him and I was off yesterday. I did an extra long day at work on thurs as I had something I needed to do typically.

He is now feeling better but we are taking it easy and I have a bit of a dodgy tum but otherwise ok. Just had a call about mum though and she has a bluish knuckle so they have called the gp who will attend within 6 hours as it 'isn't urgent'. Hopefully it is just bruised but if they suspect a fracture it will mean a trip to the hospital which is a real ordeal with her having dementia. It really scares me when she has to go to hospital as she cannot speak for herself and the home don't usually have anyone spare to send with her. This will mean me and the boy going as his dad is working today and is doing a delivery miles away. M is good with hospitals though, we have had some practice but it is not ideal. We are waiting for an update later on. Goodness knows how long she will have to wait for an ambulance if they do decide to send her to hospital.

Thursday was supposed to be a sfd but then someone bought cakes round for £1 raising money for the typhoon relief so I bought one of those and then I had to pay 7 weeks (!) tea money £3.50.

Friday I was here all day with M so a sfd there :)

Today we are so far lazing in bed. Me on the laptop and him playing plants v zombies on my phone. We have had breakie in bed - fruit for M and peanut butter on toast for me :)

Not sure what is for lunch / dinner yet. It is strictly night tonight so we usually have a nice tea with it. Will have a look later. Lunch might be soup as tesco finest fresh soups were on offer when I shopped. I had a pea, courgette and marscapone one yesterday and it was scrummy. They are all fairly low fat so good for the gallstones!

Lilyanna, thanks for the tips. I had my appendix out at easter (what a year) and took quite a while to recover. It took longer than I thought so am not looking forward to this time much. Having said that, I am being seen as a day case this time so should be able to go home the same day and I am assured the time I am asleep should be much shorter so my recovery time should be quicker. When I had my appendix out, they were investigating too so it took almost 3 hours whereas this time less than an hour all being well. I am not expecting to be back at work before Christmas. How long was it before you could drive after your op?

Kangado, yay for your 6 ratties! Do they have a big cage? Are they all boys? My boys seem to personalise everything too bless em :rotfl: They are getting more smelly as they get older - all that testosterone flying about! They love a fuss and are usually begging to come out in the evenings, rattie tummies pressed against the bars and then straight to the door!

Right off to play Plants v Zombies and then more coffee. Today should be a sfd too unless we do end up with a trip to the hospital.

    Happy weekend.

Today ended up being another spend day. Number 6 and definitely my last one. Went to Aldi and did the rest of the weekly shop including loads of meat which should take us into December. Had a 5quid off voucher. But then went to the butchers for two steak pies for OH's brother coming for tea, bl**dy hell they got expensive. Also bought a whole rabbit, which i couldnt get for ages. So freezer well stocked and Mo and Tue i should be able to save on food as OH away with work as well as next Saturday.

Sorry, DS is calling back later

Really quick post as I have what seems like a really dry neck driving me crazy. Off to wash any perfume that may be aggravating it and find some cream. Must not itch!!!!!!
