Proper updates and reading of comments tomorrow but Hunger Games was amazing. Lots of very young adults in there and one particular scene in the film got cheers and a round of applause... don't want to spoil it for anyone. Clearly a "younger crowd" type film but very good. Think I might take up archery now...; -)“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0

I've clocked up 14 SFDs including today. Lost a SFD on Tuesday as my baby got admitted to hospital with a high fever. I went to the doctors with her having asked for an emergency appointment and was sent from there to A&E and was then admitted. We're home now and she's much better - thankfully! The rush of it all didn't allow me to pack anything so I had to buy baby wipes and nappies when I ran out and also had to buy some food for myself. A shocking £60 was spent, proving yet again how expensive it is to be sick! Most annoying of the spends was 3.30 on a pack of baby wipes in the convenience store in the hospital. The pack cost more than a normal pack and this pack had 24 wipes in it against the normal 72... I felt quite upset actually when I paid for it as given that its a hospital and its an item used for children - we'll their taking advantage of parents with sick childrenJust glad to be home now with a recovering bubba.**Snip
Hi EyesWideopen - I'm sorry you had to do an emergency dash to the hospital with your little one. It mush have been a very worrying time for you. I'm glad to hear that everything is okay now.
I went around the supermarket with my food bank money, in the end I spent 4.28gbp. I tried to do the whole Jack Monroe thing of getting as many meals as I possibly could out of the money and in the end I got a tin of condensed mushroom soup, a tin of baked beans, a tin of sardines in tomato sauce, a packet of mac 'n' cheese, a packet of dutch rusks and a bag of tea bags. I figure somebody could get 4 meals out of it. Somehow it doesn't feel enough
I've gone over budget on the food, and the food bank, and under budget on the hair, so I've really got to rein it in until the end of the month to keep within budget

I tried to do the same but I do think it comes down to where you shop. I went to the posh supermarket and got beans, tinned mixed veg, tinned potatoes, tinned mushrooms, and pasta and it was £3. I felt there were a decent amount of things but not to make actual meals. I do think it depends where you shop though, I'll be going elsewhere next time as I think I will get more for my koney.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Morning,
Today will be another spendy day because I couldn't get jumbo porridge oats at a sensible price so I have to go to the market and get some.
Feeling pretty low again this morning, the weather, the damp and work issues are getting me down.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Good morning,
:grouphug: hugs to all those that feel a bit down again. Eyeswideopen hope your baba is ok again.
Today will be spend day number 5  (supposedly my last one). Will do the weekly shop tonight, got £6 of 40 for Tescimo (probably use that to get the vodka, cranberries etc and other bits out of the christmas pot) and £5 of 30 for Mr A's for our groceries. So that will take me over budget but as planned for next month I will write down the actual items I buy to see what I get for over £200 in food (I actually think we just eat too much meat and fresh fruit which are dear no matter where you shop). I will also use £3 pounds in pennies I found in the house and treat myself to a naughty lunch from the canteen today:o. It's the first in months and to be honest unless I wanted beans on toast again or porridge there wasn't anything else in the house to take.
I also just bid on 2 maternity jeans on ebay (incl postage less than £10) because my last pair is getting to tight and I have got another 3.5 months to go. Needs must.
Luckily the sun is shining here but it is bitterly cold. Might have to admit defeat soon and take the bus to workalso bump is getting a bit in the way now of cycling :rotfl: (24 weeks).
