I swear, there must a dictator hidden inside the people that have these kind of "I don't like X, therefore nobody must be allowed to either" opinions...

It's the lack of perspective that amuses me. There is no harm people criticising the things they find annoying about Ryanair but it is churlish not to acknowledge that this airline has a superb safety record, an extensive route network, competitive fares and a reputation for punctuality. The fact that it turns a profit keeps it in business, which must make it a better option than Air Europe, DanAir, Debonaire, Go, Buzz, TWA, Pan Am, Bmibaby......

.... more bags being allowed means they are going to have to use the hold for some of the cabin bags.

They'll just say put the small bag under the seat in front of you and not in the overhead locker on busy flights.

  • I take it you have not seen the price for non status passengers to prebook seats on BA?

I'm not sure what a non status passenger is, but I've just pre-booked extra leg room seats with BA and their prices were excellent.

A non-status passenger is someone who has only the basic Blue level of membership in the Executive Club or is not a member at all. Bronze, Silver and Gold status members can choose seats for free with differing availability (seat type and timing) depending on the status.

Oh, right, thanks. In that case, my extra leg room, pre-booked seats were as a non-status passenger and were excellent value.

Ryanair should never be congratulated for anything they are a pure money hungry company who are always looking at ways in which they can charge passengers more money. Think of the amount of revenue they make by printed off a boarding pass and charging customers 70 for a piece of paper. Joke of a company I would dearly love to see them go bust and close forever

I've flown many times with Ryanair and they are in good part responsible for lowering the cost of air travel. I didn't need to take hold luggage, I followed their rules and I was able to get incredibly good prices (partly because I was flexible with travel). They fly vastly more passengers than British Airways and Easyjet and it would be impossible IMO to do that if they were a joke of a company.

They charge money to reprint boarding passes because they're trying to cut the number of staff they have. It doesn't cost them a piece of paper, it costs them far more in staff wages for someone to reprint it.

Having said that I've flown BA over the last two years much more through work, and it's a very different service. It's more professional, better catering for business passengers and frequent travellers. It's a more calm and sedate way of flying and the standards of customer care are inevitably much higher than Ryanair.

Some people like the style of Ryanair and some the style of British Airways. I like having the choice between the two, as if I was reliant on BA I wouldn't be able to fly as much (which might be better for the environment, but that's a different matter).
  • Ryanair have been ripping off customers for years - they try to catch customers out whenever they see an opportunity to get more money off customers - I will never fly with the horrible company again....and people can say what they like as we are all entitled opinions. by my opinion is Ryanair are a joke of a company and I do hope they under in the very near future - thank u

Why have they been ripping off customers for years? Firstly its a business, just the same as Tesco etc. Making money is what they do. If you don't like it that much, go and fly with another more charitable airline and probably pay more for the privilege. Secondly, they have made air travel affordable to people on a budget. If you follow the rules, as complex as they may be, there are bargains. Just have to be on the ball with them. That's their business model. Works for the company and for the customer.

You've missed the point. It's not about making money, but using unfair commercial practices, for example giving misleading indications of price (which distorts competition), using premium rate phone numbers for customer service and also giving poor customer service.

Hiding the opt out for their travel insurance at the bottom of a drop down list of countries is akin to Tesco slipping a packet of chewing gum into the carrier bags and charging you for it, leaving you to figure out how the hell it got there and how to get a refund.

It's good to see Ryanair looking at why they are facing their first revenue decline in over a decade and realising that the only way to increase passengers is to address the issues that keep many people away from them.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
