  • I think i was more angry about the "leave it with you" attitude of the "engineer" I thought he was there to do an "installation"
  • The internet comes out of the set top box, okay.

Did the Virgin Man leave you any leads at all, like these

  • Yes but the connection on the end is too large for the port on my PC

It sounds like you previously used a USB and now you have an Ethernet cable and need a socket like this:

If so you will need a network card fitting to your computer.

How old is you current comnputer?
  • My PC is 4 years old. There is no lead from back of PC there is a telephone point to plug in cable. Think i need a card as you suggest
  • All is not lost,

They are a doddle to fit, may be worthwhile just opening up your Pc first to make sure you have a spare slot.

Whilst your thinking about it have a look to see how much cable you will need,

This is 30m so a bit of an overkill.

If you live close to a PC World you can reserve online and pay net prices instore.

  • Excellent!! Thank you very much, i really appreciate you taking time to help. Hope i can return the favour one day
  • Hi Everyone
I have some major issues with my Virgin Broadband service. It keeps dropping out and it seems to be working at about the same speed as a 56k modem at times.
I know for a fact it is not a problem with any of my equipment.
I do not have TV with them, however I do have telephone and the phone is fine.

I have spoken to the telephone help people and they have advised that I need to call the 0906 991 0001 (£1 per minute number). They refuse to transfer me and would not assist at all with any problems.

I am certain that this is a problem with the line as I have had issues with it in the past (I am aware that the cable is slightly damaged under the ground because they have been out to repair it just after we moved in and I could see that the little plastic tube was pretty much non existent). Whenever it rains then the service gets worse.

I resent paying £1 per minute to tell them that there is a fault with the cable. Yet there seems to be no other way of telling them.

Does anyone have a number that I can call to assist getting this problem sorted out?
At the moment I am looking into having a BT line installed so that I can take out a broadband service that way instead.

    Thanks
    Freddy
