Yes mines the same! Really starting to annoy me now. I'm starting to look for a different provider because this is unacceptable imo.
    :rotfl:
  • Well, the engineer didn't turn up. No phone call at home or on my mobile which i provided as alternate contact. Disgraceful.

I also have a 4 meg Virgin broadband but recently post Xmas I have only been getting a QTR of the download speeds that I use to prior to Xmas. I appreciate the high usage during these times but I tried again today when I anticipated the speeds to improve but still the same.
I am currently logging my up/down load tests at various times as I am getting a tad anoyed with this. If the situation does not improve within the next few days, I will be sending details of the speed tests to the Chief Exec's office to see what the response I get as customer services are certainly not able to help much.
Why should I pay for 4 megs when I am only getting dialup quality, Virgin broadband u better listen as this is just the tip of the iceberg of many customers who are having the same problems.

    Broadband Size: L

During peak times (4pm till 9pm), users on the Size: L package that download at least 800MB of traffic each and/or uploading at least 325MB of traffic each.

Any users hitting either of these amounts during peak times will have their broadband speed temporarily traffic managed (STM) – their download speed will be set to 1Mb, with their upload speed set to 128Kb. This will last for 5 hours from when the traffic management policy is applied, the data used to trigger traffic management is then reset. In some circumstances you could have to wait until 2am before your speed returns to normal, if STM was triggered at 8:59pm.

The old STM was from 4pm until Midnight and only counted downloads.

I've had enough. Since virgin went down just before xmas, my internet is still cutting out every 10 minutes, so I phoned them, they made me go into the modem settings and reset it their end, it's nothing to do with my router...and what did they come up with? ''It's nothing to do with us it's your cable..it must be faulty buy a new one''...rubbish! I chnged the cable and it's exactly the same. the modem and router settings are both fine, nothing has been changed this all happened since virgin went down. They won't believe me, what should I do?

If you're considering Virgin, I presume you're aware of their customer service problems? If not, it might be worth searching this forum. I've just taken them to court and won. They were as much use to us as a 3 legged donkey plus their support line is 50p a minute and they charge to call cusomter services and sit in hour long queues.

    Please be careful!

    please elaborate.

I don't think they will be able to.

    1) It's not 50p/min but 25p/min and if it's a problem with VM's equipment you'll get a refund. (This is for the cable side of the business, don't know about ADSL).

    2) As it's a premium rate number they aren't allowed to queue the calls, we know they don't as there have been many people stating when they call it just rings out or they get a busy tone, this is because they can only answer the call when there is someone to take it.
