completely off the subject I love your sig. bex. I complained in our local tesco about those signs "tempory out of stock", now they have "temporarily out of stock". Hubbies pet hate is "just round the bend" its around rofl. Mind you I know my grammer but drive him made with my rotten spelling lol.:)
    ali x

Yeah, the sig has grown a little over time with some suggestions from others.

I'm not the worlds best speller, seem to be getting worse as I get older, find Firefox with the British dictionary a help, before that Internet Explorer with the ieSpell extra.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
  • Just thought I would add my experience of 'Virgin'
I was not keen on using the 25p a minute contact number when I had a fault with my broadband connection. However, when i phoned at 08.40am it was someone who I could understand on the phone (uk call centre I assume). I checked the connections as requested, the guy ran some remote tests and he identified the fault was with the modem. He asked if I would be in later that day and booked for a service engineer to call at my h/a between 12noon-6p. He said the cost of the call would be reimbursed, and I then received a text message to confirm the service call.
The engineer arrived at 1.50pm and fitted a new modem and all is well.

    Spot on!
I know i may be one of the lucky ones but i cant fault them.
p.s. Got the call refunded on my bill as promised.
Maybe i should go and put my lottery numbers on while things are looking good!!!

I have had problems with my internet access too

Speed was the biggest problem - I had to call the rip off number and they eventually said oh its a fault here with the signal. I will get a engineer out. I then said ok thats fine can you please ensure that I get refunded for this call too. He said I had to call CS - which I did and the lovely lay said thats not a problem you will see a credit on your bill. Thanks to that lady I got a credit of £7.50, this amount is more than the telephone call.

I can also advise that my neighbour also done the same and got a refund.

So it appears when there is a fault which you cant control they will refund the telephone charges.

Why should we the customer be charged to tell them there service is faulty
If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button

lucky you! last time I rang them about my connection I spoke to someone in India reading answers from a sheet. this was about 6 months ago though, so maybe things have changed since?
  • I am a Virgin Media customer, and upgraded my package to TV/Phone/Broadband before xmas. A spotty youth arrived at my home said he was in a hurry fitted the box thing under tV then handed me a disc and cable to connect my Broadband and left. I thought i could fit it, but not if the cable is thw wrong size!! I contacted their "alleged" customer services e mailed them and then waited and waited, this was on 15 December!! I have had fun and games since but no sign of "engineer" to sort it. They even tried to say there were different levels of installation. I was going to switch to BT as i thought "upyours" but £120 for connection to BT is prohibitive!! I have withheld my payment for this month. Anyone had similar problems experience or found a "friendly"" Essex BT engineer who will connect me on the cheap?? Advice is welcome!

What do you mean "the cable is the wrong size"? You obviously need to have a compatible computer to connect to their box e.g. USB or Ethernet. If you haven't got the required socket on your computer, it's not really their problem is it.

  • Welcome to VirginMedia, I say this as a soon to be ex customer.

Okay, what type of internet connection do you have, is it a cable modem or does it come through your set top box?

I may have the same set up and will help you through it if i can
  • I have an HP tower unit with a telephone size port at the back where the cable is meant to plug in. It should then run and plug into the little box on top of the TV box virgin have supplied. Does that make sense?

I am also disgusted with Vm since the switchover from Telewest. But as I would have to pay BT for a connection I don't have many choices...any ideas?
