The security token doesn't seem to be required yet - the website only says it will become necessary in the near future (or words to that effect).
I've ordered one, but haven't received it yet.
However, without it, on Saturday I set up a standing order to pay an amount greater than £300 to an external account monthly, and the system accepted it. The fraud dept did phone me to check it was a genuine arrangement - but I don't object to that kind of attention to security.
EDIT: The security token will be required from Tuesday 3rd December - date now on Clydesdale website.

Received a letter today from Yorkshire Bank requesting I sign a Customer Mandate and return to them in the prepaid envelope. They inform me in the letter that I should allow 7 working days from returning the mandate for my account to be opened. However, the also enclosed Customer Mandate - Current Account Details also gives details of my customer number, sort code, and account number for the Current Account Direct. The letter or should I say package also contained all the literature I needed about the account."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

I applied TSB enhance on the branch today. Got approved two accounts together with online access in just about 15 minutes.
Entirely different experience with Clydesdale Bank where I needed to bring :
- Three months pay slips,
- Proof of ID,
- Proof of Address,
- Three month bank AC.
Having applied to more than a few dozen accounts I have not seen any bank asking so many documents in my entirely life like what Clydesdale did.
I brought my documents to one of their branch in London the phone account opening team can not find my document. They might have misplaced it or loose it or did not send it. I brought the same document again the second time, the phone account opening team still can not find it. How unprofessional and incompetent.0 -

Missing people document twice is nothing to do with how many accounts the people are holding, are not they ? This is something to do with competency and professionalism.0 -

Rang them on 0800 number on confirmation letter, good job I did as was advised by first customer service advisor who transferred me that there was a 20 minute wait. Left the phone on loudspeaker while I made the bacon butties for my sons to take to the match. Got through to an advisor just after 20 minutes and sorted in minutes by inputting into phone twice my 4 letter password. So no money in account yet but getting there."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Still no sign of the internet banking letter. Received debit card, pin number and letter flogging me home insurance but not the letter I really want. Hopefully all will be sorted by January when I will have to start emptying some of my Nationwide flexdirect accounts."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0
