Might not work, but then again it might...just as it did when I adopted a similar approach to bag my 4th Halifax Reward account just over 4 years ago when the limit was 3.0 -

I tried something similar with the Santander 123 current account and failed.
I've already got the maximum 123 accounts you're allowed but then opened a normal current account with them, short while later tried updating it to a 123 current account, unfortunately it didn't work for me

But this isnt a case of asking, its intentionally breaking the T&Cs.0

Would you agree...now having read the T&Cs?Not that I've seen reported on here (but maybe anyone who was successful would want to keep quiet about it?). In fact, I think you're the first I've seen try it.
I did not read the small print when I applied for Clydesdale a/c.
However, I did read the this

Qualifying Criteria
You must register for automated telephone and/or internet banking services to operate your account - check our self service matrix for details. You can still use our call centre or visit a branch if a transaction or service cannot be done through our self service channels.
Minimum monthly credit of £1000 required (excluding internal transfers)
You can have a maximum of two Current Account Direct accounts, of which only one may be a sole account.
You need to be 18 or over to apply for our Current Account Direct. We can provide written quotations on request. Overdrafts and debit cards are subject to status.
If I had noticed, then I would not have applied for it.
Now instead, I will apply for TSB, although I have a/cs with Lloyds.
I had no intentions to break the terms & conditions.
I admit that I do not read all the small prints.0 -
I have posted this elsewhere but thought I'd add it to this more relevant thread.
I put in an application/enquiry using the online form last week. I have called Clydesdale Bank yesterday to see what is going on with it and been told that I need to go into branch with ID.
I presume it's it likely they will ask me the purpose of the account and how I plan to fund it each month? Will they want to see wage slips? The reason I ask is that I'm a student with limited income and the £1000 will be coming from another account rather than from, say, a salary (and going straight back out the next day).
It doesn't seem wise to tell them my intentions so should I make something up or what?
Thanks0 -
I applied on-line and got a call back from them. They asked me the same questions (purpose and how I was going to fund it) and I just told them I would be paying in from a different bank and that the Clydesdale account would not be my main account. They then asked which bank I would be funding it from and once I'd told them they seemed perfectly happy and my application has gone through fine, no request for pay-slips or anything. HTH0

Went into branch today to open an account. Thought it was all going well until it emerged that I was just setting up an appointment to open the account and not actually opening the account..
At the appointment I will need to provide bank statements for the accounts I plan to fund from. Fair enough, but I'm reluctant to do so for various reasons. This is very intrusive compared to other accounts I've opened in the last year. I told him I would think further about it and he is going to keep my details and the copies of my ID pending a call from me confirming an appointment.
Decided to give the sales line another call to see if there was any chance they could reassess my initial enquiry. The first question i was asked was if I was in full time employment to which I answered no. I was then told that I wouldn't be eligible because the £1000 credit has to be from a salary and can't be a transfer from another account. So I quoted the website and that it doesn't say it has to be a salary to which he was adamant it did. Also, apparently an internal transfer does not mean a transfer from another Clydesdale account but one from any bank. Pretty sure he is wrong about both parts?0 -

Thanks. I will call again tomorrow and if they can't approve it then I think I will give up on them.0
