Kirri i was just coming on to mention it and ask if it was bland enough for you to have! lol, i find that it doesnt freeze well, just seperates, am i freezing too late? or is that just how it is.

I presume it's just the low fat content causing the problem when freezing? I'll prob give the coupon to my mum as they don't stock that version in the branch I mostly go in. I have had milk when given it free but otherwise if buying I tend to get soya. I'm also not supposed to have dairy at the moment though all round I'm getting a bit sick of the restrictions!

Am starting to crave foods too especially when I look at some of the meal pics!

I have lots of yellow split peas to use up what is the recipe please

    Official recipe is:

    300g yellow split peas
1 tsp salt (I reduce this)
1 tsp cumin seeds (dry fried/ground)
Juice of 1 lemon (I often leave this out)
    2 garlic cloves
    4 tbsp olive oil
Fresh dill chopped (for the top - I don't bother with it though)
Salt/black pepper/more olive oil on top to serve, if wanted.

However I usually just cook up 100g of split peas at a time which is just about 2 portions and just add the garlic/cumin seeds to taste. Just boil the split peas for 45 mins ish till soft then put in a food processor with the rest of the ingredients and whizz it up like a houmous. It's just a cheaper/quicker houmous really as there's no pre-soaking and they are quicker to cook and the flavours are much the same.

I know there's a few vegans on here, who might be interested.
Though having tried one myself, I thought it tasted horrible:(

We're working through our cupboards and freezers; plan this weekend is to make butternut enchiladas and use up some masa flour we bought reduced to make tortillas (with some 49p butternut from Aldi) (http://www.cleaneatingmag.com/recipes/classics-made-clean/butternut-squash-enchiladas/) and then on Sunday we have friends over so wil do a big toad in the hole and pre warned then it's lucky dip on sausage flavour depending what's in the freezer.

Taking steps in right direction as usually when friends coming we would buy a joint to roast but we all love toad in the hole and it will use up store cupboard and freezer stockpile :D

Breakfasts will probably be porridge as have 3kg of oats (unsure why so much!) and poached egg on toast on Sunday :) quite enjoying this!

Milk, orange juice, pineapple juice, cucumber, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts and onions.

  • Jelly it was based off a. Sweet chilli sauce receipe, I will have a look for it.

Found more items in freezer, blue cheese, mixed veg, more peppers, pumpkin, a corn on the cob I am avoiding because frozen is so watery.

I''ve walked 2 miles, at my grandmas going to have a nice dinner.

I need to look for a roasted red pepper dip receipe, I really fancy it nandos style with pitta.

I'm going to buy some chicken legs today also, I've got a hanckering and have also run out of onions.

Last night's dinner - leftover from xmas slice of HM nut roast, with roasted/frozen allotment beetroot/pepper with watercress and mushrooms (cooked in allotment garlic) from the veg box. I must be getting my 5 a day in 1 meal these days!

    [IMG][/img]2014-01-17190743_zpsa7ab4a16.jpg

I also did some baking today, not done any for ages, inspired by Flo's pies (but not as pie looking..) is my veggie version - I made 11 of these. Didn't follow a recipe, made it up as I went along, though I forgot to add the cavolo nero.. Pastry was made with added ground linseed and turmeric. Filling was puy lentils cooked in a weak stock with bay and carrot then added mushrooms, chestnuts, lots of garlic and thyme. Didn't bother to blind bake.

Nervously tasted it and was really good! So tasty. I've still got 2 blocks of hard butter in the freezer and might make another batch. I need to make them a bit bigger though, these were done in a muffin pan but came out quite small - I used a teacup to cut the pastry bottom and a pastry cutter for the lid. I've got some individual steam pudding basins, might try them instead next time.

Had it with watercress from the veg box and olive oil.
