    It really is a generic name for a quick fried bread apparently. My sister laughed and said it the same recipe she got for stick bread (wrapping dough around a stick and cooking it over fire). I used my cast iron griddle pan instead.

    And further to the camping this weekend:
    The site manager encouraged us to do sloe picking, went for a walk and done blackberry and sloe picking. Both will go into freezer when get home tomorrow. 
    It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil. 
  • My chest freezer has just died! My challenge is - how much can I cook and eat/ get is someone else's freezer before it all defrosts.

    Do hope you manage to sort something out @lucyhope with cooking and storing elsewhere.  Are you planning on replacing the freezer?  If so, at least you would only need to store your stuff elsewhere for a short while.  Might be more difficult if you're not planning on replacing it.

    In:  0
    Out:  sausages; some diced pork - making a sort of cassoulet tomorrow for dinner.  Depending on how much it makes there may well be some to go back into the freezer as a HM ready meal for another day!

    In: 2 leftover 'shepherd type' pies, made with venison mince not lamb, and topped with veg mash not potatoes. we ate similar pies last night.
    Out:- one chicken breast - they're huge so by the time they've been filled with apricot stuffing and wrapped in bacon there will be enough for the two of us.
    Out - HM pate and a pk of cake batter for lunch.

    Food wise today - aim to collect more blackberries and rosehips
