I noticed a couple of days ago that the lights were not showing on one of the freezers. Wiggled the plug and it came back on. Today same thing happened so not wanting to take a chance I've emptied the said freezer and just about managed to put everything in three other ones.
DH is going to have a look at the plug but if freezer is dead, do I replace it or not, a very difficult question?. Freezer is an upright 6'6" high. The jury is out
In: blackberries and runner beans
out: 2 x pork mince and herb 'balls' to make the outer layer for scotch eggs (I made 48 of these balls a short while ago and froze them - pork mince was on a good offer, - it saves so much time and energy when I make scotch eggs)0 -
@zafiro1984 I often use Linda McCartney rosemary and red onion sausages to make scotch eggs - that too saves loads of time and they are very tasty.

I had decided not to replace it because there are only the 2 of us left at home. After checking everything my hubby unplugged it. I thought the following morning I'd just switch it on and make sure it was dead - guess what? It was working after all!!!! It was the power light that wasn't working. I now have an empty, working chest freezer!!!!
One thing I must do is take out one unlabelled package a day - I'll call it my surprise package - defrost and do something with it. Could be interesting as quite a while ago I did the same thing, except I thought the freezer bag had baby onions in it so put them in a casserole without defrosting - they turned out to be gooseberries!!!0 -
In: more runner and french beans
Out: uncooked turkey carcass - to make soup0 -
Update to this morning:
I bought a multi pack of chicken thighs so will be dividing them up into portions and will be going into the freezer. Think there should be 5 or 6 bags with enough for 2 of us. In fact, I've just had my lunch and am now off to do the deed!
