Out: yesterday, spaghetti and lamb curry. Today, salmon fillets, frozen veg, quinoa
In: Tuesday, hm mashed potato. I know it not supposed to work well, but thought would have a go, even if only leave it in for a month or so.

I noticed a couple of days ago that the lights were not showing on one of the freezers. Wiggled the plug and it came back on. Today same thing happened so not wanting to take a chance I've emptied the said freezer and just about managed to put everything in three other ones.
DH is going to have a look at the plug but if freezer is dead, do I replace it or not, a very difficult question?. Freezer is an upright 6'6" high. The jury is out

    In: blackberries and runner beans
out: 2 x pork mince and herb 'balls' to make the outer layer for scotch eggs (I made 48 of these balls a short while ago and froze them - pork mince was on a good offer, - it saves so much time and energy when I make scotch eggs)

@zafiro1984 I often use Linda McCartney rosemary and red onion sausages to make scotch eggs - that too saves loads of time and they are very tasty.

Do hope you manage to sort something out @lucyhope with cooking and storing elsewhere.  Are you planning on replacing the freezer?  If so, at least you would only need to store your stuff elsewhere for a short while.  Might be more difficult if you're not planning on replacing it.

I managed to get most of it in my other 2 freezers (under counter size) after ditching the stuff that I hadn't labelled (naughty I know) or the label had fallen off and couldn't be identified. I had decided not to replace it because there are only the 2 of us left at home. After checking everything my hubby unplugged it. I thought the following morning I'd just switch it on and make sure it was dead - guess what? It was working after all!!!!  It was the power light that wasn't working. I now have an empty, working chest freezer!!!!

I hope I have the same luck as you, as it's quite a dilemma knowing what to do and likewise there are only 2 of us here. My main problem is that we tend to live 'seasonally' I grow most of my fruit and veg and buy my meat in bulk ie by the carcass from independent people so the problem is I need freezer space.

One thing I must do is take out one unlabelled package a day  - I'll call it my surprise package - defrost and do something with it. Could be interesting as quite a while ago I did the same thing, except I thought the freezer bag had baby onions in it so put them in a casserole without defrosting - they turned out to be gooseberries!!!

    Update to this morning:

I bought a multi pack of chicken thighs so will be dividing them up into portions and will be going into the freezer.  Think there should be 5 or 6 bags with enough for 2 of us.  In fact, I've just had my lunch and am now off to do the deed!
