As we are on the subject of the weirdest kitchen gadgets, I have to announce that I bought the most obscure one possible in a charity shop today. It was new and boxed and there were several available, and I bought it for my live-out other half for a joke, as we vie for the most kitchen gadgets and have many, many between us. This was a device to roll neatly either stuffed cabbage or vine leaves and altho we don't do either regularly, it's just a bit of fun. I do buy dolmas but prefer the ones I have had in Corfu with fruit or nuts in them so now is my chance! Forgot to say it was just £1.

    Out: 3 ribs of mutton.
I find breast of lamb, or better still, mutton goes a lot further if it isn't boned and rolled. I use 2-3 ribs per person if mutton and cook it very slowly. It loses most of its fat and comes out crispy on top but moist and juicy inside. It's quite a favourite here and cheap
