My £100 a month is for food/cleaning stuff and toiletries.
As for OTC medicines - very rare to get those. As both over 60 - free prescriptions anyway. Mr F has a beard - so no need for razors etc - I cut his hair and beard.
My Daughters often buy perfume and toiletries as presents - usually plenty to keep us going. I sometimes have to buy some handcream - need Nutragone - as dry hands.
Stamps/sellotape come under the office budget - Mr F is self employed.
    I don't buy chewing gum.
I have a huge bag of shoe cleaning stuff - most - I brought with me when we married 16 years ago. I think I had every shoe cleaner known to man when I was bringing up my 6 children. Renovating polish in all colours to sort out scuffs and shoe whitener for plimsolls. I had red, blue, neutral, light grey, dark grey, green, beige, tan and black. I cleaned 7 pairs of shoes every morning - no way - were my children going to school in uncleaned shoes. I had dubbing in various colours for the boy's leather trainers and football boots.
I save £7 a week from my pension - covers Birthday and Christmas presents. I make all the greeting cards.

  • With my budget it includes food, toiletries and cleaning(not perfume or makeup)
    Stamps seperate budget
    Medicines are free in Wales
OH eats lots mints these are not in budget
We have stuck to £100 since around April(when we tried to stick to lower budget) apart from this month which I believe will come in at a whopping £275 but this was to incorperate the 7 £5 off in lidls and Aldi.I allow £200 per month and all year the surplus goes into holiday fund.

    Jelly

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the contributers to this thread. I read it every day and next year PERHAPS I will get to the bottom of my three freezers. Thank-you for often making me laugh and frequently making me try new foods inspired by your postings.

Thanks - we have a huge tub of E45 - it was unopened in Mil's flat when she died - still in date now. Mr F uses that sort of cream on his legs - was prone to Cellulitis when he was obese.
I have found that only the Neutragone does it for my hands. I did try everything else as it is pricey - stock up when I see an offer.

    In to freezer - whoops - scones/bread/syrup pancakes/garlic & coriander bread/garlic butter flatbreads.
Out of freezer - 2 HM Yorkshire Puddings.
The freezer/fridge and cupboards are heaving - even though our spends have been low.
The turkeys and crowns were half price in Aldo today. Also BGOF on the SS + some other veggies. We got some whoops in Mr Asdo tonight.
So updated my sig but we have so much stock in.
Mr F had to dash off to see Doctor this morning. We had an easy meal - HM wedges + veggies + Burger in bun.

and to you ^ and everyone on the thread! I'm not a fan of xmas so glad it's over!

Did anyone have a freezer using up xmas?!

I need to total up year spends, going to be high.. :( I log spends for food and 'household' type items separately. No more spends planned this year but might have to nip out and get a few bits of veg after the weekend.

Tempted to have a bit of a clear out in the freezer of the very old home grown veg, I don't like throwing stuff out even if I haven't bought it but some has been in there 2+ years so it won't taste good. Be nice to start New Year with a defrosted freezer too.

WP/MNR - I got the Jan Waitrose Kitchen on xmas eve, some great veggie recipes in the separate Waitrose Harvest booklet. Whole package is sealed so some may have freebies in, mine didn't.

No not really; more going in than out.:o And I need to make room for a stock of Jus-Rol pastry from a Mr T glitch - well, it's too cheap to turn down:). Has everyone else been taking advantage?

Christmas dinner was veggie puff pastry wellington - dead easy to make, with leftovers that have gone in the freezer.
