Hello everybody, I'm a longtime lurker but have decided to take the plunge and ask if you would be kind enough to let me join the thread. Long story short, I am single and due to health issues I'm currently off long term sick (can't wait to get to get back TBH!). I'm currently looking to empty my freezer to defrost and make inroads on my 'brexit'/mobility problems store cupboard. As much as my disability allows I enjoy cooking different cuisines and eating what I can (I have to have a high protein diet supervised by my Consultant/dietitian). I've asked to join the July grocery challenge and will pop to the love food hate waste thread to see if they will have a newbie there! :)

    Many thanks,
    Lizzie

Hi Lizzie, welcome aboard, I only record my freezers, a few include cupboards, I have 2 in my hall 1 for food and 1 for cleaning materials, pleased to report I can see some space. Freezers also showing some wiggle room, aiming for lots of space by Christmas to take advantage of special offers.
I also live alone and eat high protein low carb by choice for weight loss, hope we can swap a few ideas.
    Nothing IN or OUT yesterdy.

Welcome Lizzie, have fun! I don't post often but always read. I track my use-ups elsewhere at home but fight a constant tendency to hoard which needs regular attention (so many chick peas, lentils and spices at the moment). We are omnivores and eat a healthy diet with lots of sugar-cheating (rhubarb fool last night because there is just so much (homegrown) rhubarb here!) and now I have a glut of homegrown potatoes, a month earlier than they should be because we have some evidence of blight.

  • Welcome Lizzie and agree with Suffolk Lass. I try so hard to use stuff from freezers but as I love to cook I tend to cook several portions so feed the freezer. Have taken out a hm hotpot for today and will have with some ys asparagus and ys cauliflower. Really must make more of an effort with freezers, just put 6 pack of faggots in (only £1 in Iceland) so had to soften slightly so I could cut into 2's to put in freezer. I do love a Brains faggot.

Thanks Pamsdish (and Suffolk Lass) for the welcome.

Must admit I'm somewhat of a experimental (read 'sling it together'!) so long as everything either involves some kind of protein a 'complete' protein (meat, fish etc) or a non-meat source with a carb. Tonight I had a sachet of Tilda rice with edamame (RTC 24p Morrisons :) ) along with 40g red lentils all for the princely sum of 30p (I did have a Turkish delight bar afterwards though!).
