Thank goodness for the freezers - they are my inanimate friends :j

I came home from hospital yesterday after spending time having a knee replaced. I knew I'd be on a couple of crutches for a few weeks and unable to function probably.
So homemade meals for a couple of weeks all ready in the freezers. They just need defrosting and sticking in the microwave.

    Freezers are great :T:T

Found a bag of sliced onions now I have some room and can see what`s in
there, had about 4 or 5 of these as I was getting ready to batch cook a lot of sage and onion stuffing for my daughter in law, plans and marriage fell apart.
Do I need it or just want it.

Hope you recover well Zafiro. I love my freezers too:D
I've decided until the current uncertainities re food supply are clearer that I'm going to build rather than deplete stocks. I was poorly during the week and it brought home to me how reliant I am on grocery deliveries and having a good reserve of food as shopping around isn't an option even on good days. I'll still work on making sure things don't get "lost" in my cupboards/freezers but probably won't post as much on this thread.
Since I last posted I've used up most of my HM soup stocks and a couple of HM ready meals as well as some pre-made bits - so handy when you're laid up. I may well make more soup this week as unless it's tropical weather I like soup for lunch. I cooked a boned 1/2 leg of lamb today that had been lurking for well over a year (nearer 2:o) but as it was vac-packed there was no freezer burn or texture loss. :)Some cooked lamb will no doubt end up in the freezer.
  • I too love my freezers (have 1 tall one, 1 under counter and 1 fridge freezer and theres only me) but have had new knee and both hips done so planned ahead each time, lots of soup so dd could just get one out of freezer to thaw out for the next lunch, lots of mince style to go with micro jkt spuds and meat and veg to just bung in SC. Made life so much easier as walking and bending is not easy after the ops for a while.
