Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two
Comments
-
Since last Monday :-
My online grocery order arrived complete. Mainly, just stocking up on regularly bought/used items so am well supplied for this year.
Also, "Cyber Monday" meant some (food) store cupboard offers obtained which were 40% off. These were ingredients that were health-related.
Food "stores" therefore well-stocked. The freezer currently holds one drawer full from four.0 -

Last day of the month so here are my up to date lists of foods past their best before dates
In my cupboards
custard powder - enough for a few years yet! ( I read that someone used some that was 30 years old!)
oats - I'm eating muesli every few days, will be finished by the end of the month
1 packet of coconut flour - still looking for ideas for this
coconut oil x 2 - bought cheaply...it's lasting for ages
PG tips and Nescafe - Only kept for visitors, only two teabags used this month
[STRIKE]basmati rice - lots in bag still, and I don't eat it very often[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]boil in the bag basmati rice - will use this month[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]5 packets tilda coconut rice[/STRIKE]
ginger paste - -will try to remember to use it
[STRIKE]10[/STRIKE] 8 tins of mock duck - one tin lasts for 2 meals
Gravy - rarely have gravy on my dinners
fridge/freezer
5 smooze fruit ices - had one tonight, but wrong weather for ices
No items added to the list this month. Unlikely that many will be added at the end of December.
However, I'm unlikely to use up everything on the current list unless I want to have Mock duck for 16 meals followed by lashings of custard over coconut tarts made with gluten free flour, coconut flour and coconut oil and take a sudden liking to tea and coffee... I'd have a terrible headache with all that caffeine.

19th November 2018 - end November 2018 results :-
Aim to reduce just over one freezer drawer full of food to less than 90% of 1 drawer = now one drawer full.*
*Fridge freezer consists of four drawers.0 -
Made some small cakes to finish off and give for Xmas gifts, they taste nice and have frozen them (I know they are good when thawed) so have taken 2 out of freezer one to eat when thawed on counter top and the other in fridge to thaw. Want to see how long the fridge one will be nice, hope it will last a coupl of weeks so I can finish them off and wrap about a week before big day. Am making small Xmas cake this afternoon, I know that will last OK asa it has lots of booze in it and then will make some slab chocolate as a test. I should not eat as diabetic so just a little to test keeping capabilities again.0

First two days of this month :-
Weekend local shopping savings were reduced price veg (25p) and half price UHT cream substitute. Also, considering a by Xmas "use up" of current food "stocks". Not bothered about Xmas food shopping. It will be reduced anyway after Xmas!0 -
