I have an allotment & I'm addicted to buying YS food hence no room in freezer for Christmas goodies.

Nothing in today but I took out a bag of strawberries, one of gooseberries & a bag of biscuit crumbs. Made a fruit crumble using the biscuit crumbs mixed with flour & marg as a topping.

Hi tallyhoh and welcome. Like you I have an allotment which takes so much time in watering and tending, and then preserving the produce! I have two and a half freezers full of goodies, none of which is meat as I am vegan. Also jars and jars of dehydrated produce home grown. Currently there are four trays of cauliflower pilau rice on the trays of my dehydrator, so like you, there are no spaces for Christmas goodies. I just hope I can arrange it so that I use up some freezer space so I can take advantage of the brilliant savings around the festive season for fruit and veg. I won't starve anyway!

Thank you all for the welcome. Can I ask how dehydrator works & if they are expensive? A freezer broke down last year & as it was in the garage we didn't notice until everything was well gone :(

Tallyhoh, my dehydrator was about £50 and costs about the same as a slow cooker to run. It's only a very basic model but ok for smaller amounts. I should use it more than I do.
