Still trying to plug away at freezer stocks. Mixed success.. OH managed to skip a dinner again somehow which messed up my meal plan. His parents also came back from Scotland with lots of Scottish food for him which is nice of them, but has again sent meal plan out the window and put more food in my freezer!

Feel pretty tired and really don't want to cook tonight but must!
    Finally bought a home

  • OUT: ready rolled puff pastry, cheese, veg, tatties, 3 rashers bacon; cheese, bread, end of salami pack
    IN: nothing

Made cheese, bacon and veg turnovers with actifry chips for the family which had been on the meal plan BUT I forgot this when I made them cheese on toast for lunch. Never mind if they don't eat it they don't eat it. I'm still off food so hoping tomorrow will be better day but just too sore and sickly feeling last two days.

  • Glad you are enjoying cooking Florence.

Taken the last loaf of bread out of the freezer. I'm saving the ends for a bread and butter pudding in the future. Taken out half a pack of mince from the freezer. Finished off the scabby end bag of potatoes, mushrooms and butternut squash too. Finished a tub of baking butter and jar of jam and self raising flour too! It was a good using up day - esp. If you add in the tin of beans and tin of tomatoes!)

Re-did my freezer stock list and still loads in there. I was able to stash the sheet of pork ribs and extra pack of bacon without playing tetris - so progress is being made. I seem to have loads of seafood in there but as it is in the outside freezer it is not being used so fast.

I bought a joint of beef that was reduced to £3.45 from £12.50 as I cruised round the SM yesterday. Supposed to only buy F&V, dairy and bacon but was tempted by the pork ribs and beef joint - and therein lies the issue, possibly exaggerated by fears that prices will increase. anyway - beef for dinner today (and L/O will do in salad for lunches).

I also bought canned peaches and prunes for my store cupboard. Then I went to the Health food shop and bought oat-bran (good for lowering cholesterol), jumbo organic oats and some Bombay mix that is wheat free

For dinner last night I used up a wonky cabbage (22p), some spinach (bought when no lettuce available) and a pack of lambs liver I wrestled out of M&S on Xmas eve (£0.70) with some of the second pack of bacon (2 packs for £3 - the second pack is in the freezer) and an onion from my garden stores - £2 for dinner for 2 - not too shabby!
