    In to freezer/cupboards: nothing
Out of freezer: 1 portion chicken casserole, 1 baked potato, 2 chicken thighs

A friend brought me a lovely veg box today so will sort it out properly tomorrow and freeze some bits to make sure nothing is wasted, also need to peel and slice a pineapple and get it frozen
  • Welcome to Tootallulah and Penguin :wave::wave: I have learned LOADS since joining in here - hope it's as helpful for you too.

Franalamadingdong that crustless quiche features often although I'd never have thought about smoked mackerel but that's one of the only fish I will eat - anything smoked - so thanks for the idea. I don't have any smoked mackerel 'in stock' at present but can be added to my list for next proper shop x

Zafiro - do you have any local friends who might want to lose a few pounds with you? Just thinking it would save you joining an online club (££) and you can take it in turns to 'host' a mini-support group type session each week. Motivation provided to keep on track as the weigh in is not just you and also you get to have additional socialising opportunities where one person isn't 'on a diet' so you can all support each other and take turns to provide appropriate food and drink. Just a thought?

In 2003 I had a gastric bypass which I remortgaged my house to pay for. I was 44 stone :( but nowadays I'm in the 14's or less depending on how my eating has been. The gastric bypass helped me lose weight initially, lose enough weight to safely have my 2 kids and taught me ways to 'cope' around food etc. It's ALWAYS been mega challenging for me as you can probably imagine at that size. But even having had weight loss surgery 14 years ago I still struggle all of the time with food and choices and now this horrid pancreatitis. But I'm beating the statistics which say I should be much much heavier again by now. I'm happy with that but food / weight / self esteem are so intrinsically mixed up in my mind and hence my 'issues' with food hoarding etc.

I have learned the value of like-minded friends who support similar eating patterns and not trying to sabotage (intentionally or unintentionally). Having that motivation to weigh-in with more support than 'just you' in the bathroom on a set time and day of the week might help you too?

OUT: roast rib beef from Xmas dinner (F), veg, noodles, spices
IN: leftovers from my evening meal which I will use for my lunch tomorrow

I made stir fry beef with noodles and sweet chilli sauce for the OH and kids; I had stir fry veg and beef with mushrooms, garlic, chilli (with no noodles or sweet sauce). I openeda bottle of fish sauce which I had always wanted to try but oops I didn't realise it was a pouring bottle as it looked like a drip bottle. Oh my word. THE SMELL!!! But I added a touch of lime juice and soy sauce too and it was actually really quite delicious.

NSD #11 today and expected tomorrow too. I took the kids swimming but their requests for drinks and food were declined as lunch was ready as soon as we got home and only 5 minutes away. Was lovely to get them out of the house although freezing outside!!

Fantastic weight loss, are you doing this by yourself or are you part of a club? I need to lose a lot of weight but my DH laughs at the idea of my joining a club so much so that I would never hear the end of it if I did. I've thought about joining Sworld online (as he wouldn't know) but never got around to it.

To be honest I am doing it alone but I have 2/3 read the Michael Mosley (he of "Trust me, I'm a Doctor" fame) book "the 8-week blood sugar diet" - I felt really creaky in my joints and low energy and I must be a candidate for diabetes (Fat Female Fifty something) so I thought, here goes nothing and it is easy and great. I probably need to cut my consumption of nuts and fruit so they are part of a meal and not a filling snack though... :o

My friend with long-standing type 2 diabetes tried it last summer and is now a size 8 with no medication and sugar levels back in normal. She also looks younger and fitter than I have seen for a good twenty years (at that time she was fat but healthy) - cheaper than Sworld online...

    Out
    corned beef
    potatoes
    frozen onion
    frozen corn
    half a tin of beans
    Frozen mince

Today was corned beef hash - needed warm comfort food.

I've got some mince out to defrost and I think tomorrow a big bowl of scouse might be in the offing.

Nearly a draw free in the freezer - just in time for my MF order on the 3rd March - never stays empty for long...
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

  • Jensfeet, it's a John Waite recipe and it's lovely. It has gherkins in too. Nom. Perfect for my pickle fiend boy. It does have a few new potatoes in, but you could easily just omit it as the volume of the mix was still too much for my tin! There might be a recipe online that you could adapt to your needs. Well done on losing the weight and keeping it off. Oh, and nam pla does stink. I spilt some in my fridge once! Urgh

Forgot to add that I used a tin of tomatoes and finished the tomato puree today. There's a spare in the cupboard though.... But I did stop myself from buying another to replace the spare. I see progress. It'll be time to plan march's menu soon! I bought wraps for absolutely no reason and put them in the freezer so fajitas will feature with sweet potato fries before it walks out of the kitchen!!!
  • A bit more progress today. My overflow stores under the stairs now fit into 2 boxes instead of 3. My aim is to get to the point where there's nothing under the stairs and it all fits in the kitchen cupboards. Without falling on me when I open the cupboards. :-)

I bought a copy of Save with Jamie this week for only £3 and it has a few useful recipes I will probably use. I did laugh at his idea of essential stores though - you can tell he's never had limited money and space in his life. He has 5 types each of oil and vinegar for starters. To be fair, he does say that's just what he keeps in his store cupboard and not what everyone should have. Also I really shouldn't mock, I have 5 different types of lentils.

I'm still chipping away at the freezer and cupboards, but not really noticing it too much, as stuff from the cupboards and fridge are making meals which are being frozen/fridged, but that said, dents are being made. Going to make a sweet potato curry (again), when I get a bit more freezer space, this time using beans from stores (not sure which ones I have), the tins are huge catering ones from Approved Food and not sure how many I have left - maybe I will ask for some dip recipes, if anyone has any, but that is thinking ahead a little. Have a lovely w/e everyone.

Had to laugh at this I'm thinking typical celeb chef LOL and I then I realised I have olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, "proper" Greek (expensive was a gift) olive oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil and couple of flavoured oils as well. Vinegar-wise I've malt (white & dark), red & white wine, cider, rice and balsamic think I better back off on my judgement of JO he's quite restrained really :o I've only two types of lentils in the cupboard at the moment though.......
  • Just had a very cheerful thought.

I am away for various nights in March. 14 in all. That's 14 evening meals DH is going to eat out of the freezer:j:j Surely that will make a dent:D

Problem will be I'll have to do a full freezer audit when I get back as he'll never record what he's eaten:rotfl:
