Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two

Sorry to hear you're stressed out and dealing with sickness at home Franalamadadingdong - it's pants when you lose your appetite and nothing appeals at all. Hope to hear things improve very soon for you all.
I was really annoyed with myself yesterday. I ran out of hot chocolate powder yesterday - kids have it every morning with breakfast and I'd been in Lidl Tuesday evening but thought there was a new one in the cupboard. Nope. So I ended up nipping into Morrisons as is the only local supermarket and took my DD after school. Ended up buying Options (£2), YS pork pie (75p), YS green beans x2 (25p each), YS carrots (30p) and was ear bended to buy kids a bag of sweets each for the kids (£1 each). So I went into the shop 'needing' hot choc powder and ended up with £5.60 worth of shopping that we don't need. It's not that there is no money in the budget but there was no NEED to spend it!! So mad at myself. But I live and learn and it improves my resolve to do this.
Out - another (smaller) chicken breast, 4 small onion bhaji. I will put some green beans into the korma I made yesterday with the half chicken breast left from the soup (for the kids)
Will make some naan bread with the recipe on here using the ood yogurt and some spices from stores.
In - 2 portions of spicy parsnip soup, leftover mash potatos from earlier this week, 1 portion chicken, kale and bacon soup from last night's tea.
I had 6 clementines left from xmas in the fruit bowl but one was mouldy and waaaaaay past being useable. So I made a clementine loaf cake using the whole fruit that I microwaved and blitzed in the food processor and everything else from stores. I don't like it lol... Too orangey for me but the kids enjoyed it and stopped them from going into the bin!
I'm away Fri - Mon but the meal plan will hopefully be stuck to by OH for him and kids - will need to buy steaks and salad at the weekend but everything else is in freezer / fridge / cupboards. Will be interesting to see if himself is able to avoid buying extras when he goes for the steak and salad... Oh and hot chocolate powder x2 will be on the list too to stop impromptu shopping visits too!!
Have a great weekend all (today is my Friday!) x0 -
I am really disappointed to have had my plans to inventory the freezer thwarted by - the weather! I like to get everything out of the freezers, into black bin bags, onto the back path in really frosty conditions. I can then clean out the insides and return all the foods to the appropriate drawers, noting what they are as I go. For a week or more the forecast here has been for frost all day today, so I have been prepared for days but this morning turned out to be well over freezing and none of the white stuff in sight. It will just have to wait for the next cold, cold morning.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Appetite hasn't been good due to stress sorry to hear that Franalamadadingdong, hope everything is back to normal soon.
Out
loaf of bread,
salmon pieces for tea
piece of puff pastry for eccles cakes.
frozen vegetables for tea
apple slices to go in the casserole.
IN
4 portions of pheasant casserole which at the moment are in the slow cooker. I can't use them today as I have run out of cream or anything similar.0 -
Jens feet I do the same and get annoyed with myself when I do that too, but I tend to justify it if its YS stuff which is probably partly why I'm going wrong and freezer is so full!
In today is 2 boxes of cod OH wanted as there is no fish in freezer - used shopmium so at least they were only £1.50 a box, and the last few YS wraps I got.
Out was a container of bolognaise sauce which has been languishing for ages and a portion of mince for OH. I'm finishing the soup I made yesterday..Finally bought a homeStarting mortgage £289,500 31.01.19 - Current outstanding £192,586.98/CENTER]Overpayments since 27.03.19: £52,407.470 -
zafiro1984 How did I forget about eccles cakes? I used to love eccles cakes! I may even owe my not-so-sylph-like figure to eccles cakes
Out and cooking 2 lambs hearts with hm stuffing (minus the suet which I forgot to add last time and we actually preferred it!)
Used the zest of one of those old lemons with store-cupboard herbs, frozen breadcrumbs, a small onion (home-grown) and an egg - they are in for four hours to make it good and tender. I must remember to cut out the string I stitched them up with (mad, moi?).
We'll have these with fridge veg when DH gets home
SLSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Another NSD. And I don't think I'm going to be cooking before Wednesday so lots of using up planned.
Coming out for tomorrow - 2 small pieces of salmon for lunch with friend, 2 BBQ chicken burgers, 2 wholemeal muffins. Chips will come out tomorrow night:D
DH finally finished the Xmas cake last night so I will get out a quarter of frozen ginger cake for the next couple of days. Also some BSq brownies to take tomorrow.
I forgot I have guests for Rugby in February. I may have to bring that MF delivery forward. Or re-plan the menu:DGoals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -

Suffolk lass. It's funny how you love eccles cakes, I make mini ones. We love lambs hearts but I always find they taste a bit too fatty however I never thought of using lemon zest. I would image it that could help a lot - thanks for the tip I'll try it next time.
I'm originally from the north and used to love the flavour of steak and cowheel pie. Does anyone still make it? I've asked at the local butchers and get funny looks when I ask for calves heels.0 -
I actually wrote out a meal plan the other day - mostly to help with my Slimming World. I have been watching old episodes of Eat Well for less - its reminded me (when I look in my cupboards) that I plan and shop poorly and I need to use stuff up.
I expect I could survive for many weeks without buying anything buy why do I still find the need to shop?!!0 -
Not expecting to add or take anything from cupboards/freezer today. I have meat and white sauces spare from making lasagne for tonight so will probably make some chilli for the freezer from that tomorrow. Not sure what do with the LO white sauce yet
EDIT - small jar of meat paste taken out of the cupboard, 1 portion mashed swede added to the freezer0 -
Out yesterdayn.... pizza, 2x tins peaches, tin pineapple
In .... zero0
