  • Lol no, I did a recall job to collect honey that had crystallised, gave tons of the stuff away, I had some reserved for somebody who was donating to people in another country as well as brand new clothes, but I had to chase her to get her to come and get it, in the end I gave up so I'm stuck with the honey, my grandma has told me she doesn't have any left so will bring her round three, I've got some placed on the radiator, which just melts it back to runny honey perfectly.

I'm going to cut the beetroot, no I got it from the f&v stall when I went to buy some kale, thought I'd try it, so bought 2.

Deffo trying the beans, I have decided to put lardons in, Waitrose currently have 10% off using the card, also I have been meaning to try a poussin and Waitrose have 10% off those too! perfect lol.

  • WP, The honey just needs heat, I was putting them in a bowl with hot water, but found I had to change the bowl once the water went cold, hence me popping them in the grooves of the radiator, its perfect, I can go away and leave it, when I come back its nice and runny, they call it blossoming.

    In to freezer - nothing.
Out of freezer - HM Quiche + 2 Dabs + bag of part baked rolls + whoops sausages.
Tired after spending the day looking after a 3 year old - exhausted in fact.
Had HM Shepherd's Pie + baked beans for dinner.

Larder cupboard movements OUT = stuff OH hoards on his shelf which is getting close to use by date basically eg unopened Marmite, marmalade, jam, peanut butter. Going to my mother who will use it for baking for WI stuff/give to homeless soup kitchen for sandwiches.

Also cleared out non-gluten free stuff as going wheat and gluten free is really helping OH.

Welsh Poppy, I low carb for my diabetes and spuds are really carby. Carbs put on fat if the energy they provide isn't used up - marathon runners stuff pasta beforehand. Andy Murray is weird, he'll eat 50 pieces of sushi :rotfl:

MsNightRyder roast kale sounds intriguing, what do you do with it ? My mother gets kale in veg boxes and is fed up with making it into soup.

^ Unopened jam etc seems to keep fine, I have some bought jam a year or so out of date (though most jam here is hm so no dates..)

Talking of jam, just taken a victoria sponge out of the oven - used up flour/eggs/marge - eggs were few days out of date, flour and marge were a few weeks out of date and er jam was made in the last year or two.. just waiting for it to cool down to put the jam in.

Victoria sponge.. retro food ;) My mother would make them when someone was coming for tea when I was a kid, but these days they get Respect organic carrot cake (1.80, Sainsbury's) ;)

Curious.. how many bakers are there on this thread ? D you freeze many cakes ?

Awaiting Ocado order then qute a bit will go in freezer.
  • So this morning I've finally emptied my freezer. I'm not sure my sister is going to be happy as I'd been looking after the spare tier of her wedding cake while she was moving house. :D
  • I am a baker and I freeze cakes all the time:-)

I used to be a marathon runner so know all about pasta pre race:-) maybe why I love carbs although no longer a runner. may explain weight gain.
I never knew that about Andy Murray that is weird!
