  • The easiest way is to roll the pomegranate until it sounds just right cut in half and tease out the seeds easy peasy lemon squeasy.

    No freezer movements.
    Bad photo tonight.
We had Dabs + HM wedges + salad - grated carrot, celery, red onion, red pepper & tomato for dinner. Cost - meal - 80p.
Dabs were so fresh - market stall.

Eat it on its own (traditionally, quartered, and with a pin to pick out the seeds - that's what I was taught at school, in Latin class of all places:) ...

a pin?! Must say I hadn't given any thought to how to get them out yet, having enough trouble with the recipe lol.

Kirri I'm grilling some golden beet slices, just had a bite and they are lovely!

They are good aren't they! I didn't like beetroot till I tried the golden ones. I've had a clear out of the fridge tonight, I kept bringing bags of them back from the plot and sticking them in the fridge.. so I washed, sliced and griddled them all in 3 batches - had 1 portion for dinner tonight with the last tofu sausage and some potato wedges. Put the other cooked portions in the freezer - will try reheating them and see how it works. Found another bag full I'd left on the kitchen table earlier in the week after I'd finished cooking so put them in the fridge whole and will eat later in the week. Might try grating some raw into a salad. Still got a lot in the ground, hope the frost hasn't affected them.
Kirri I have chronic asthma and found it was best controlled whilst I was running strange:-)

Dr said exercise will help the asthma if I really up my fitness levels but first I've got to wait for the inflammation to go down, I've had 10 years of chronic chest infections and coughs lasting a year without them testing me for asthma until the point my fitness was deteriorating and a 5 min walk was leaving me breathless. Think I'd have collapsed had I tried running in that state especially with the hills around here!

Kirri my local Lebanese cafe makes a wonderful salad with white cabbage and pomegranate dressed with lemon and olive oil. It sounds a bit odd but it tastes, and looks, wonderful. I love pomegranates on Greek yogurt with a wee bit of honey and some toasted almonds.

I have a pomegranate to use up this weekend, not quite sure what in... (never eaten one before, it came in a mixed fruit delivery).

Badrajini Salati, Aubergine Salad with Pomegranates, traditional dish from Georgia.
(from 'World Vegetarian Classics') "Georgia is famous for its delectable pomegranates. A symbol of hope and desire, Georgians prize these legendary fruits and use them in many dishes and sauces in particular. They love a tart edge to their food, and pomegranates deliver this strong sweet-sour effect. The beautiful jewel-like seeds release a tangy, megenta juice, adding a fruity acidity and pink hue to this sauce. It is said, 'With a Georgian sauce you can swallow nails', so even a hater of aubergines should find this salad palatable."
I have a recipe but it's a bit too long to type up and post, so here's another version

Also here, of Badrijani, with walnut puree and pomegranate seeds

I cut the pomegranate in half and hit the back with a spoon to get the seeds out. So sxrummy!
  • Gonzo I was just coming on here to suggest that method, think I saw Jamie doing it, I don't like pomegranate, its the seeds within the seed that I don't like!

I've had a juice for breakfast, been having juice for the last 3 weeks, todays was peach, kale, ginger, cucumber and apple.
Lunch was the last of the seasoned beans with a finger roll split in half.
Dinner will be the lamb mince, rice and veg. nice easy day.

Need to get back on the exercise, like seriously, I just don't feel motivated. blurgh.

Going to be without a computer tomorrow as my DH is just going to transfer all my data onto a new super fast machine. No doubt I will then have to battle with a new system. The old machine still works ok, I wanted to get rid of it but I can't as it runs the printer network.

    Freezer movements
Out: Turkey soup for lunch. Beef joint for tea, but I put it in the cooker and forgot to turn it on  so just have grabbed some pork chops to do quickly, The beef will have to be done tomorrow. Apple slices for a pudding, not sure, but probably apple crumble as it's quick and easy to do.
    In:- Nothing

Been really busy today cleaning out the chickens, not quite finished but they had started to roost as it was starting to go dark so I thought I'd better finish for today and carry on tomorrow.
