Kirri:- How do you mke fresh peanut butter?

I cheated - I went to the new big Wholefoods store and they have a machine which makes it in store - it makes 4 different nut butters just with the nuts (or could have with added salt). It's really good, far better than whatever I've had in a jar as I didn't like that really. Does stick to the teeth though - is very pale compared to the branded stuff. I can't wait to go back and get more, I'm a bit addicted now.

There was a thread on peanut butter fairly recently where someone said you can make it at home just with the peanuts though but I've not tried it.

Out today came a large pork chop which I chopped up to do a stirfry with vegetables and a packet of noodles. Almost to where I can defrost it now :)

    In, nothing.

Out of freezer - HM Steak Pie + HM Quiche.
In to freezer - HM Salmon Fishcakes + HM Cauliflower Cheese.
I made Salmon Fishcakes tonight - we ate one each so 10 to go in the freezer. The salmon was whoops and the cooked mashed potato left over from making Shepherd's Pie. My Cauliflower Cheese tasted fine but my sauce would not thicken - made it in MW. Caulis were whoops. We had HM wedges as well.

  • Out of freezer: HM enchiladas for dinner
Into freezer: 2 YS corn fed free range extra special chicken legs
  • I used to make my own peanut butter with roasted peanuts and a hand blender. Very messy but yummy. I didn't add anything to it at all, some people add oil.

Just finished cooking a second large batch of courgette pieces, added in chilli, tomato, onion, herbs - all from the allotment. Got lots of little bags and boxes of portions in the freezer now... I seem to be filling it rather than emptying it lately albeit I'm not paying for any of the stuff going in it. Had one portion of this with pasta and pesto tonight - nice 10 min dinner. Fridge is looking tidier without all those courgettes too - have just left a few in there that were picked this week and are still very fresh, for use this week.
  • Have done well to keep within my weekly budget by using what I have in the freezer. Hope to keep up the good work this month.

Out: Venison chops, duck breast fillet
    IN: Nowt

My final total for October was £118 ish. Not bad at all for me.

    Today, usual breakfast and lunch.
Dinner: just cooking allotment pink fir potato wedges, vegan mayo and omelette - added in a portion of the cooked veg from last night as I'd left one portion in the fridge.
