    Morning
out today is a packet of smoked mackerel. Nothing should go in unless I have a portion of kedgeree left over.

How annoying of them to not deliver. Imagine if you had nothing in.

  • Well I finally did the pancakes. They looked a bit pants but tasted ok.

Out of freezer 2 chicken brest portions to do a mini roast dinner.

1 week to go to make space for the home grown meat. Think I need to get creative with what I have left in there.

That is the stage I am at, the creative part. I have a full bag of spinach to use and some diced onion and celery. I have just put it all in to a pan with some stock and herbs to see if I can make soup. I've never had spinach soup before, we'll see how it goes

I'm also defrosting 4 chelsea buns and I'm going to try and make bread and butter pudding with them :)

hi, don't normally post on this thread but I have a quick question (my apologies if something similar has been asked a trillion times, as seems to happen on these forums). I have two partridges that have been in my freezer for about two years. They're vacuum wrapped. Do I: a) cook them coq au vin style to make up for the fact that they probably now don't have a lot of flavour; b) assume they are no good for human consumption, unwrap them and leave them down the allotment near the shed for the foxes to eat so at least their little birdie lives don't end up being a complete waste or c) bin them? ... Any thoughts? ...

PS sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question - I saw it was about eating from the freezer, which I am also trying to do now, and I hoped someone here would know about these things. :(

    Hi
I'd defrost them and roast them with a chunk of onion inside and a rasher of bacon over the top. They will be fine to eat:)

hi Soworried, thanks for your answer, and this is probably a silly question given you've already answered it, but are ya sure?!! Everything I read suggests meat should only be kept in the freezer for about six months. :) Is that BS?

I'm sure, game guidlines are 12 months. I'd use it for up to 3 years. You can tell if something has freezer burn but it won't if it is vacuum packed.
You will also smell it if it were off when you defrost it.
