  • It was lovely thanks Mrs F, and I'm thinking it would probably work with other fruit as well so something that could be adapted to whatever fruit is in season? P'raps not berries or anything too soft, but possibly pears and plums? Or even banana with a drizzle of toffee sauce.....see, I'm getting carried away now!:rotfl:

It is a frugal war time recipe - they only put 75g of sugar in because of rationing. We have a sweeter tooth so up the amount of sugar to 100g. I agree about not using soft fruit but I have used pears/plums.
Very easy, cheap and filling pudding - great for families.
Mr F and I don't eat puddings. We have our apple pud for breakfast with custard so I get my calcium requirement.

Well, after weeks of drooling over Mrs F's meals, I've copied her again today and made TITH with potatoes and cabbage and lots of gravy. Really hope Mrs F agrees that copying is the most sincere form of flattery:rotfl:

Picture (I hope) from which you will see that portion control is still a bit of a problem for me (along with the freebie chocolates I got from Hotel Chocolat and WHS yesterday and today!)

Hope you're all having something tasty

    In to freezer - nothing.
Out of freezer - sausages + HM casserole/dumplings.
Older but not wiser - I post on here to help others so copy - no problem. I have been cooking dinners for 45 years.
For dinner we had HM Smoked Salmon Quiche + HM Cajun Wedges + Cauli/Carrot.

What's wrong with the portion size??

(no updates from me, busy week, not much cooking, few meals with family, random meals when home..).

I can't bear to throw away the extra when I make meals, nor do I have a freezer to store it in. That TITH is going to be for supper again tonight and if I ate the correct portion size I'd be eating it for a couple more days after that! And that's not to mention the pudding which will take several days to get through (not that I'm complaining of course, just means that I tend to eat too much at mealtimes to avoid having to eat the same things for too many days in a row!)

Are you all planning glorious Easter feasts? If so I might have to stay away from your photos for the next few days or I'll want to copy you and eat the same things (that cheese and garlic tomato salsa sandwich you made Kirri is like a siren song in my mind today!:rotfl:)

Hope your life is busy in a good way Kirri, sounds as if it is

No freezer - wow - I couldn't function without one. Well I suppose I could but I wouldn't want to. I bought my first freezer in 1970.

    Kirri.

I must say whole foods are excellent with complaints, I had to complain about their Piccadilly branch cashew butter, as I wouldn't spread, it was clumpy and Just falling off the bread, I told them hsk was better lol, they gave me a refund and a off shelf jar, which cost way more than I had paid :-)

No eating out the freezer or anything, went out for tapas and sangria last night, that sangria creeps up on you!
