  • Ali, you are so good at this shopping malarkey. I would be so so pleased if I spent £23 on my weekly shopping. I'm getting better and am looking forward to counting up actual spends this month as I reckon I have done quite well. Probably find I've been rubbish mind you :rotfl:.

That would be great if that guy buys the car. One less thing to think about .

Tell you what MiT, I'm seeing a trend with my grocery shop which is I'm spending up to the budget limit pretty much each week now. It was coming in at £15/16 per week in the autumn, so I'm going awry somewhere, but then the batch cooking will produce another 10 dinners or so for us, so think that's where the extra is possibly coming from.

Fingers crossed for the car sale, it would see me starting on Stage 2 of my Financial Freedom plan - not sure what that is yet though :rotfl: - I guess a mix of saving for retirement, saving to help DS with driving and further education, saving to get the house jobs done and bigger OPs on the mortgage.

Interesting bit on the news about overall UK debt - it's starting to come down this year, including household debt. :)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019

How are you managing to spend so little on groceries? We spend around £60 per week but we do like some food that would be considered by others to be rather indulgent.

    This! :rotfl:

I don't know how we do it, other than I meal plan so only buy what we need to make that happen, which is usually fresh veg, anything for batch cooking, replenishments for low stock items we need for the store cupboard and freezer that are staples. Plus DS's packed lunch bits.

We're still using some Morries and Sburys YS meat and fish, plus we rarely have desserts.

I've honed the food shopping since I joined MSE, so have had 8 years of practise - meal planning, no waste and no veering off the shopping list :D

Love salmon in all it's guises - some in the freezer at the moment I bought YS and froze. Smoked salmon I buy as a treat occasionally - last time was Christmas I think. :)

Fine wine - I don't really like alcohol that much :o I do like an Irish coffee and the odd small bitter-shandy in the summer when it's very hot. The odd glass of wine with special meals - my Uncle is a fine wine connoisseur so always comes armed with a few for the table :D

Caviar - had it once and didn't like it at all. Good job really :rotfl:
