I normally make it at home (and did last week) I cook enough for two meals and freeze half as it takes a while. I do that with most slow/long cooked dishes.

I had it as I didn't fancy the plat du jour yesterday, last time I did get the PDJ, which was Moules frites.

I love moules frites :) Moules are easy to cook at home - frites slightly more of a faff.

You've inspired me, atush - might look into making osso bucco and taking it in portions to work.

I have to say I do feel I've turned my whole way of thinking around since I started this diary - which was last October, only a few weeks really - but I can't remember what life was like before that when I was spending cash without even thinking about it. Then I think back to when I was first on MSE and had loads of debt, back in the day ... a few years ago now but not that long. It's hard to believe MSE itself has only been around for 11 years. It feels as though it's been forever. I wonder how much debt has been cleared and how many savings have been made as a result of MSE? I bet the figure is in the millions of pounds, quite easily.

The telegraph and the times always trumpet what they have saved for readers, but they can validate it.

MSE can't which is a shame, as they would have saved much more. but we cannot (you know how many young trolls say have made 1 M thru betting or inheritance etc) believe in unrified accts.

It isn't take into work food (it is on the bone) so save it for a comfy dinner in on a cold night and fast?
  • Well finally getting to catch up on forums!! Worked a 12 hour day yesterday and treated myself to a few pints last night followed by 8 hour day at work today, doing my own freelance jobs...the result is £££'s of extra income, might not get paid for it until start of next week so it will be counted in marchs savings so even though February be marked down as a break even/small loss month, march will hopefully more than make up for it! Got a lot of work on just now, I'm striving under pressure, absolute love it as love my work!! Now off to bed, raring to go again tomorrow, every penny a prisoner in this savings mode I'm in!!! Love it.

£££s of extra income sounds good, in fact all of it sounds good. I bet you'll beat your own savings goal this year, YoungBusinessman. :) And nice to hear from you. :)

Yes, it is, but can be cut off bone and taken into work with potatoes, I would have thought? The first meal would be a comfy dinner and then there would be leftovers. That's what I was thinking, anyway.

Re MSE, no there's no way of validating it and I'm sure there are countless people who have never even posted on the forums who have used the guides to how to save money on utilities, credit cards etc. So, the total figure must be absolutely huge.
