  • Have you seen the offer currently on galaxy chocolate, where you get a free download off amazon? Its just the normal sized bars (69/79p) and you have a code inside to get your kindle book, there's about 8 to choose from & the one I picked was £3.99 - 'The Longest Holiday' by Paige Toon - really enjoyed it x

I definitely don't need an excuse to buy more galaxy :D

Have any of you considered a book exchange? Click here to have a look: http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/TheLibrary.aspx It's totally free to join etc.

And this link http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/Questions.aspx?Section=Costandpostage shows you about postage costs (approx £1.11 for a paperback with less than 300 pages). Even with postage, it ends up cheaper than amazon. you'll also be doing your bit for the environment too :)

Where I live it can cost more than that to mail a PB, but I have looked into it. Have used Green metropolis int he past which owrks more or less the same way (although they take 75p per book for planting trees/profit).

And I don't eat milk chocolate.

    Hiya Cathy :)
Just looked at your signature and your savings are going well! Just over £2.5K, well done :)

This thread, and my Savings diary, have been the main reasons behind the change in attitude towards savings I think. Its so much easier when there are others doing the same thing, or further ahead in their savings journey than I am.

Thanks WantToBeSE :) I agree totally about the savings diary - it has been the single biggest factor in me turning my habits around.

At £1422.28 you are so close to your February goal!! Go WantToBeSE :) :T:T:T

Well, we don't really have much of a library. tiny one in nearest town, but I don't live in town so dont think I can join (and last time i checked they didn't have much I wanted to read lol).

The library system in London is quite good but it's just not the same as having a book to keep. However I'll keep noting down how much my habit is costing me and who knows, maybe I'll change my mind about that :)
  • Checking in for a night in, forum browsing after watching ice road truckers...me and gf love that programme! A weekend of earning ahead as opposed to spending. Sorry to both of you if I have been concentrating on your smaller targets (like books, and taking lunch, food spends lol).

    Your savings are impressive.

My library in the USA (not as close to my house as the one here but I am allowed to join as is county, not city) has ebooks. s

o, that would be good if we could get ebooks on loan.

and as I said, I sell my books once I have read them, and this helps fund new books.

Thanks guys :) I cannot believe that I will be spending £1000 on Sunday! I know that this is 1 of the things I have been saving up for, but when I look at how long that took me to save (2 months), I panic that its going to be another 2 months before I can replace it.
However, I need to remember that I have pretty much met my first aim, which is to save enough to buy a new car (not brand new, just new for me). I have plenty more targets to reach. My next one (£2K to move house) will be the biggest yet, but I am ready for the challenge :)
