Just showered and off to bed now so I am ready to crack on tomorrow, lots to do and the more I do, the more I earn. My next few paydays can't come quick enough even though there not till march!! Iv gone down from £1,260 to about£1,020 savings for this year....need to try get that back up a bit before the end of this month!! March will be spent being so frugal il forget what the pub looks like!
You sound like an impressively hard worker, you know.Meanwhile, sometimes it's good to forget what the pub looks like. Actually I've never really lived near a decent local - which probably helps.

My library in the USA (not as close to my house as the one here but I am allowed to join as is county, not city) has ebooks. s
o, that would be good if we could get ebooks on loan.
and as I said, I sell my books once I have read them, and this helps fund new books.
You can borrow e-books on Kindle but only one a month and I've sometimes found it hard to find a book I want to borrow. But I reckon it will only be a matter of time before it's a more extensive thing.0 -

I cannot believe that I will be spending £1000 on Sunday! I know that this is 1 of the things I have been saving up for, but when I look at how long that took me to save (2 months), I panic that its going to be another 2 months before I can replace it.
However, I need to remember that I have pretty much met my first aim, which is to save enough to buy a new car (not brand new, just new for me). I have plenty more targets to reach. My next one (£2K to move house) will be the biggest yet, but I am ready for the challenge
Blimey, WantToBeSE, I'd say taking two months to get together enough money to buy a car is incredibly fast!! You'll be moving house before you know it. Honestly, two months, or four months for £2k, will fly by.It's halfway through Feb already and four months is June. It's not far away. Well, that's what I reckon.

Sorry to both of you if I have been concentrating on your smaller targets (like books, and taking lunch, food spends lol).
Your savings are impressive.
oh no atush, the smaller things are where it's at in some ways - it's noting down the smaller things and discussing how other people manage them that I find really helpful. Thanks thoughLet's hope I can keep it up

- you have the cash ready when you need it,
- you will not be borrowing,
- you will replace it in only two months.
- having got that out of the way, you are only four months away from being able to move.

Thanks, Eco Miser - that's exactly what I think too0 -

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thanks guys, you are right
It's ironic that I spent so much of my life without any savings and didn't overly worry about it, and now I am worried about only having £500 (almost) in my bank account.
The questions going through my head are things like; "what is my fridge freezer/washing machine breaks down? I wont be able to afford to replace it".
However, to calm my fears I am thinking that £500 is plenty enough to replace a fridge freezer/washing machine. Also, I am able to save up again!
Why am I so worried? and more importantly..why wasn't I this worried in previous years when I had a good reason to be

Definitely enough to replace the fridge freezer/washing machine, possibly both if you were canny about it. And they are highly unlikely to break down - that happens very rarely in my experience. But you knew thatLooking forward to seeing pics of the car
