Have fun and a croissant and a glass of Vin rouge later for me!

I'll be spending euros on saturday in the Rain from the looks of things, in Cannes :D

Just back from a long walk down across the two isles past Notre Dame and the Louvre and back again. I reckon I've walked six or seven k, just as well as I've already had a crepe, a cake and an ice cream

YoungBusinessman, haven't found anyone too rude, the one thing I would say is the traffic is bad and it's smoggy, but it's such a lovely city it's hard to mind. Sounds like you had a great time :)

atush, will definitely have that goes of red later, hoping for the croissant tomorrow. Cannes, sounds like great fun too :)

cathybird - I don't post much much but still read your diary to watch your progress - aren't you doing well! Enjoy your Paris trip. I love Paris though have not been for 3 years - I hate all the faffing about with security at airports but, now that my son lives in London, I have thought about using Eurostar. However, I have had a 3 year ban on foreign travel as I had decided that the UK needed our money and we would holiday here and I have to say that I have enjoyed being in parts that we hadn't visited before - Arran, Shetland, Devon and Cornwall to name a few. However, normal 'overseas' service can resume at the end of August when the 3 years are up - though I may fail in my pledge because my husband has just won 2 return flights to Paris. I am trying to persuade myself that if we go in June then I will only have failed slightly!

Have you visited Pere Lachaise Garden Cemetry? In case you haven't come across it, it is interesting to walk around (and it is free). It is in the 20th arrondissement on Boulevard de Menilmontant. [The Paris Metro station Philippe Auguste on line 2 is next to the main entrance, while the station called Pere Lachaise, on both lines 2 and 3, is 500 metres away near a side entrance. Many people prefer the Gambetta station on line 3, as it allows them to enter near the tomb of Oscar Wilde and then walk downhill to visit the rest of the cemetery.]

Hi organic wannabe! :) Good to hear from you.:) I have in fact been to the Pere Lachaise cemetery, though not for two or three years. I'd love to go again this visit, but am quite keen to have more of a look round the Marais quarter, where I am staying. There's too much to do in Paris, that's the problem :) and only here for two days. I don't think you should feel bad about spending here since we need to encourage French people to come and spend in the UK ;)
  • Good point Cathy. I had thought that next time we went to Paris we would stay in the Marais - I love Place du Vosges. Where are you staying? I prefer to rent an apartment - last time we stayed at Rue Mouffetard (5th). However my husband has said that, now there is only the two of us, we should go to a hotel. I think part of the charm of being in Paris is buying in the local boulangeries and markets but I suppose, if the weather is nice, we could still buy at the boulangerie and eat in a park (possibly not a garden cemetry though!).

I must investigate Eurostar further. For this evening 'Bon diner'.
