• HI everyone:

Tim: I got the blue "sapphire" version, and really like it. They are going for about £200 ish on ebay, so you might be able to sell it and buy a black one if you really want. I've heard bad things about Phones2U as well..

Planetf1: yup, I did get T&C's. No suprises really, here's the main points:

    - 28 days from the billing date to claim, if not recieved in this time, you lose your entitlement to the cashback payment for the month in question.

    - If I send the claim in by post, I MUST use recorded delivery

    - I must remain on the original tariff and use the handset (? how would they know?) and SIM provided.

    - If the contract is terminated, mobilephonesontheweb have cause to levy various charges.

    - after submitting the cashback claim, I will recieve a free SMS to confirm reciept of my claim. Cashback will be paid by BACS 28 days after this message.

    - This is the strange one "I understand that I will only be entitled to claim cashback credits after mobilephonesontheweb have recieved two valid forms of identification and a signed copy of the terms and conditions of sale" I'm going to give them a call about that!

Nothing else strange or startling really, apart from the lack of mention of sending bills in by fax.

I'm on FF2 as well and had no problems with ordering online. Maybe just a weekend bug? I didn't use their contact form, just emailed directly from the "contact us" page, got a response the next day. Their sales teams love the hard sell though!

Best of luck, and let me know how you get on.

Let me know how you get on - obviously important to be spot on with the T&Cs

I guess one could argue that you agreed to the T&Cs (sign) as part of the order process, and the 2 forms of id were the direct debig details and credit card details, but I would get that in writing!

Think I've found the cause of my ordering issues

The issue is with address lookup

When I use many post codes and click "lookup" the address is completed successfully, with a house number / street name being placed in the correct boxes.

However when I use my postcode the house number contains "8 street name" -- the first part of my address, and the other fields are offset - ie street name contains my town .

I think the reason for this is that the formal address database record for my postcode includes an apostrophe sign, and this is confusing the order system.

Question now is whether I can still book online in order to get additional cashback via "quidco", or whether I have to book over phone. I would prefer to do online, so have emailed them, but I probably won't be able to, so will loose out on the extra cashback.

I guess put it in perspective. It's still a good deal......

  • I actually meant your dealings with mobilephonesontheweb, as you mentioned that you had problems with them.

I certainly wouldn't be happy writing my bank details on a mobile bill and sending it through the post! Seems suspect to me.

The CCC is just a reference code to identify your contract details, nothing too complex there.

  • Well,

another update from me about mobilephonesontheweb and their Vodafone/Samsung U600 deal.

As promised by Vodafone, my port has gone ahead on the agreed date (28th June) with no problems whatsoever. Woohoo! :j

Everything seems to be fine so far - next big test doesn't come for 5 months.

    I'll update then,

AP: Yeah, I noticed the fax option as well! There's no fax number on any of the correspondence they sent me, but it does say in the T&C's that they will send you a text upon receipt of your bill. I might ask customer service about it a bit closer to the time. Nothing on their website either. If you find it out, please post it on here!

Just wondering, it might be the same as one of the phone numbers?

I e-mailed both info@mobilephonesontheweb.com and customerservices@mobilephonesontheweb.com and ask them specifically what their fax number is for cashback claims on 25/06/07 and I still have not had a reply from either of them.

I've emailed them more than once; I prefer written answers to specific questions but apart from one reply a week ago saying someone would be in touch I've heard nothing. I'm tempted by their offers but need to be more convinced by a company with no obvious track record and (so far) no interest in committing to answering basic questions in writing. I have also called them today (not making reference to my emails) to ask about particular phones. I wasn;t terribly impressed by their answers and suspect they may not be correct in at least one case. As I'm about to go for my tenth running contract and for date reasons have to order within the next two weeks the clock is ticking. Like Phones4U, no answers, no purchase! I'll be interested to follow what feedback comes on here of course - and IF they DO answer all my questions to my satisfaction sooner rather than later I will almost certainly take a punt.

I ordered a Samsung U600 on Orange Canary 40 with 12 months line rental cashback from them on 25/06/07 and I am not impressed with their service so far.

02/06/07 - Phone calls to 0800 8778796 chasing order, told to ring customer services on 0870 4583298 - found to be 0800 7818695 through saynoto0870.com but cannot speak to anyone after holding for over half an hour on the 0800 number each time.

As you can see, they did not acknowledge receipt of e-mail enquiry immediately and never gave an answer to my enquiries so far, even after my phone has been received.

I am now beginning to wonder what I am letting myself in for by placing an order through them and have to start going through all the hassles and nightmares in claiming cashback from them in 5 months time!
