Many thanks, this may be of some use as long as Vodafone accept the letter from trading standards, any idea where I can get hold of a copy of this letter?
Thank you0 -
My wife signed up with them 3 months ago, she got a new phone and a contract at £35 per month with Vodaphone with a 12 months cash back equivalent to the line rental. It sounded to good to be true!
Surprise Surprise, she received a call last week from them advising that they are running behind with the cashbacks due to Vodaphone not paying them.
Sound familiar - Yes it does.
They continued by saying that if she was not happy she could cancel the contract and return the phone!!!!
They also advised that they had been taken over by another company and this should improve the service that they provide
She then contacted Vodaphone and they were very helpful with dealing with the airtime contract, they were OK with her cancelling and the they advised that the cashback does not come from them. However they could not make any comment about 'mobilephonesontheweb'. They also advised that she could change the contract without any penalty, which is what we are going to do.
With the collapse of the company in Birmingham 'Dialamobile' who were offering the same deal (as reported on BBC Midlands Today 31/8/07) and who recently merged with another company, I expect the same of 'mobilephonesontheweb'

ps We had a similar contract with Carphone warehouse and it was fine and they did give the cashback with no problem, it was only for a percentage of the line rental. So there are some reputable companies.0 -
Hi the form can be found at the bottom of the page on this website: http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/tradingstandards.bcc
Dialamobile also owned mobilesontheweb
Hope this has helped.0 -
I'm afraid no-one is likely to see any cashback from this bunch of liars and crooks (I rarely use such strong words as the last one). Mobile Connections has apparently gone bust and it's unclear what's happened to Dialamobile or whether takeovers/listings ever really happened. The web page (like everplus six weeks ago) is inactive. After a lot of misgivings I did go for a deal a while back, but because of a network error it was never supplied (phew!). I guess I'll be the ONLY one to make a profit out of this - Quidco tracked, validated and paid at a higher rate than shown and was also paid very quickly despite no contract. Maybe I'm just born lucky!0

****Please can you let me know who you spoke to about cancelling the contract with Vodafone as they are being stubborn with me about cancelling it even though I have no sim card and they know I have not used or received it as its barred.
Thank you*****0 -
Well well.
This isn't good is it? I'm also lumbered with a Vodafone contract, having paid out for two months now.
My Quidco did track, and I have a samsung U600, so I'm not too badly off.
I've just spoken to trading standards and they advised me to get in touch with Vodafone to see what the situation would be. I'm about to phone them now, but as mobilephonesontheweb have not been specifically named, I don't know how sympathetic they will be.
How many people have received this "delayed cashback" phonecall?
I don't know whether to get out now if I can, or stick with it until the first cashback; because trading standards said that they haven't officially broken contract yet because they don't owe me money until November (the first cashback claim)
I'll update later

It's not good news I'm afraid.
mobilephonesontheweb are looking like they are on decidedly shaky ground after their partner company mobileconnections has gone into administration.
Some customers have received phonecalls saying that they are delaying cashback payments for 6 months. Birmingham trading standards are investigating.
Some of the customers (including me) are discussing developments on another thread. I'll find the link in a sec. Here it is - come and join in!

It's not Vodafone who owes you the money anyway. They are two separate contracts and assuming Mobilesontheweb HAS gone for good (which looks highly likely) you're only recourse will be based on the understanding and goodwill of the network - in this case Vodafone. You can at least downsize if nothing else after 6 months on a 12 month contract, but that MIGHT be the best damage limitation available.0

Just tried to get hold of MPOTW and found that both their freephone numbers are now disconnected, and the other numbers are both constantly busy.
Website still down.
I#ve just read over the t&c's again and they say that if I change the contract (ie. camcel it with vodafone) they reserve the right to charge me the full retail price of the phone plus any network charges, up to £500 each. Obviously, I don't want this to happen, so anyone got any advice?
Very unsure as to what to do... I'm still on hold with Vodafone; she's checking what their policy is.
