You're only annoyed at this system because; a. You're wife is useless with a PC, b. She's on holiday and c. She's switched her mobile phone off.
How did you guess?0 -

You're implying Tesco's online banking service is rubbish.
It's not.0 -
It's doing what it should do. Preventing someone other from the account holder from accessing the account.Still rolling rolling rolling......

The bank is absolutely right about this.retiredin2011 wrote: »My wife can't use a computer, I do it all her online banking.
My wife is on holiday and she has the phone registered to her account, switched off.
Why do not you ask your wife to call from abroad. International call in most cases is even cheaper than calling someone from mobile phone in the UK0 -

It would be simpler just to receive the SMS with code and to tell the code to the OP.retiredin2011 wrote: »My wife is on holiday and she has the phone ...switched off.0 -
Call Tesco on 01268508027, select option 1(UK customers), then option 3(self service), enter the card number, select option 1(primary card holder), then 2 digits from your security code that it asks for, then option 2(make a payment) - it will give you details of both the minimum payment and the statement balance.
Hope this helps!0 -
The reason I cannot call her is because she is on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic with her phone switched off.0

What details/cookies do I need to save so that this does not happen again?0 -

You probably can't.
The cookie/code will be a value calculated from various details /parts of your PC that don't normally change, so say part of the network cards MAC address, or a serial number of the processor/motherboard, or something like the size of the hard drive. They'll calculate a value from these that's relatively unique to your PC, but yet don't actually reveal any details about the computer, and then apply a further calculation to make it match an algorithm that Tesco use, then set a value in the cookie.
Simply moving the cookie to another PC will just mean that when Tesco check the cookie, the values won't match and it will assume its not a computer that's been used before and start the one time pin process again.0 -
You can't stop it happening again. If you use a different computer you will have to do it all again.0
