Changed computer

I wiped my computer and installed Windows 8.1 and tried to access my wife's credit card account online.

It won't let me as it doesn't recognise my computer.

I tried re registering. The same.

Phoned their help line but the customer rep does not think I am the customer so won't help even although I know all the relevant details.

My wife can't use a computer, I do it all her online banking.

My wife is on holiday and she has the phone registered to her account, switched off.

Any suggestions, or will I have to get my daughter to pretend she is her mother?

If I can get in touch with her as well.

Also any suggestions to avoid this in the future?

Yes, get your wife to deal with her own accounts.. Nobody is going to support / suggest that someone impersonates your wife. Can the matter wait until the wife is back?

Don't change your computer at the same time as your wife is on holiday with her phone off and you need to access the CC account.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

    • never upgrade your OS
    • don't let your wife go on holiday
    • tell your wife not to switch off her phone
    • have a sex-reassignment and hope your voice changes
Conspiring with your daughter to defraud can not be recommended, but admittedly would probably work.

And quite right too as you are not the customer.

The customer rep is correct you are not the customer in this case.

You should be able to log in if you have all the details, I log into my accounts from different places and as long as I enter the correct info then all is okay.

Spend some time showing your wife how to use a computer. Then she can sort her own s**t out.
  • You should be able to log in if you have all the details,

I do have the details, their software doesn't recognise my computer.

I take it you don't have Tesco banking online?

Nobody is going to support / suggest that someone impersonates your wife.

I'm not looking for support, I'm going to do it.

I only want to log into her account to look at her statement to pay the bill, as she doesn't get paper statements.

That is going to be changed the minute I get access.

And if you think I also look at her email you are correct.

    You think I haven't tried?

All I get is "why should I do it when I have you."

And you've just found out why she should do it!

When there is an issue it can't get sorted out without her either; doing it herself, or at least being available to help sort it out.

I don't have Tesco banking online, but what you say makes no sense to me. Internet banking is supposed to be available not from just one computer, although if you keep using the same computer you can be asked for fewer security details.
