I meant their 10th anniversary of being together!
I do agree that the shop should have had greater discretion. I just think the emotion is better spent planning the next thing than remaining angry.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
The OP was right to feel disappointed on her son's behalf, and even angry for a brief period, but posting the company and the names of the 'guilty men' on the web was way over the top and a serious error of judgement in my view.
You're right & I apologise. I have edited the post as I feel I was too hasty. However, I do feel that this shop has belittled the experience. Hey oh, you live & learn !!:A[/QUOTE]
Have you not considered that accompanying your son to the jewellers and seeing the girl's engagement ring before she does belittles her experience?.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I would be furious and tell them to stick their ring. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

Oh !!!!!!!
Watch out for a new poster with the name Daniel posting about his "overbearing and interfering mother", should make for interesting reading.

I must admit, I found the hair standing up on the back of my neck reading the original post. People spending months and months saving for a ridiculously over-priced rock akin to 3 months wages or whatever the jewellery industry TELLS you you should spend, makes me cringe. And they ALWAYS feel the need to tell you how much they SPENT on the bloody ring too!
What a load of fannying and arsing about and a load of hoo-har; this whole 'covert operation' to ask the bird to marry him. Why the hell was the whole family involved? Why he couldn't get a £150 ring and propose to her privately? I would be quite embarrassed and a bit annoyed if 28388383 people knew about it, especially if I may not want to say yes!
And you want the ring for free??? Makes me wonder if this wasn't some plan from the beginning to get an expensive ring for free.0 -
Run Michelle, run, as fast ad you can!!January GC: £64.81/£80.00

This whole thing reminds me of the old tv programme "Sorry".OOH language Timothy/Daniel:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My Daughter got engaged, married and had two lovely kids without all this hoo ha:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Ps surely it's traditional to ask the brides father ????
No longer thankfully. Why should a grown woman have major life decisions made for her???
OP I think you need to take a deep breath and allow your son & his girlfriend to deal with this situation. If this is the worst problem they've faced together then they're very lucky! The biscuit will only dare to be just a biscuit when it is with its true friend the potato. (Edward Monkton) :beer:0
