Of course I would have no desire to interfere in other people's non abusive relationship. It's telling though that when they have a true and free choice very few women actually choose the subservience that used to be a given.
You must have missed the bit where I said I'd hate to live in a world where people couldn't agree to disagree.. Person one please don't think not always agreeing with you means I disrespect what you believe, I don't, I just make different choices for myself. I never close my ears to opinion, and change my mind often.
And on this point we agree. (Although I didn't say women,....I'll point out..)0 -
Men never said 'obey' in the marriage vows, did they? We were talking about women, not men.0

As for "giving the bride away" - even the shortest registry office nuptials still have someone giving the bride away. I wonder whether its a legal thing not just traditional?
You just made that up didn't you?
All you need at a registrar office wedding is witnesses, not someone to pass the responsibilty for the bride over like they are property. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I was asking about the right to consensually obey in a relationship which, some men and choose to do in personal arrangements.
I cannot remember my wedding vows actually. I better check with [STRIKE]the Boss[/STRIKE] DH.

If my soon to be wife sees that she'll be inserting them into my vows.0 -

Men said worship. That was the part I objected to and was the reason we took out the obey/worship part of the vows.0 -
What is with all these fancy-schmancy proposals.
Nothing wrong with a good old car park.0 -

I always find it sad when women belittle and mock feminism and feminists, as if they have no idea how much they've benefitted from it and how much still needs to change.0 -

Did you know that the wedding ring symbolises the purchase of the bride with a precious metal?0 -
