If the NI forum was set aside solely for money-savings tips it would be pretty boring -simples :)

Why not set up a thread Called "Money Saving Stuff only" and the rest of us can fire away here, have a laugh and get great advice (moneysaving or not) into the bargain.

GlynD you started the poll, you asked the question, and now a few people have gave a difference of opinion its getting your back up, as your now calling them unreasonable

You clearly like the non moneysaving chat as it's notable that you start alot of them, however it does put people off the NI forum as due to our local problems it always boils down to bad feeling and disagreements.

I personally have no issue with the non moneysaving threads, however there is a place for them in the arms. It's already been catered for therefore I dont see the point in having a seperate NI non moneysaving place.

Oh the irony of commenting on a non moneysaving thread
here we go again ,another slanging match .

I think we are seeing the outworking of what happens when the thread becomes a talking shop or a discussion forum for topical issues in N Ireland. I am still of the belief that the threads in the N Ireland room should be related solely to money saving ideas and tips.

I notice that in other Forums on the site the moderator or Board Guide removes innappropraite posts that are not relevant. Why does that not happen in this Forum? Should we not ask the Board Guide to adjudicate on what can and cannot be discussed here rather than have a poll which is loaded in that there is only 1 option to keep discussions related to money saving (which is the name of the site), and 3 others to move away from that position. Surely the poll, if it had to have been done (which I think no one had the right to do without permission from the Board Guide) it should have been a straight yes or no question.

This Forum has descended into a name-calling, digging-your-heels in, mindless waste of space and with a bit of luck some of the moderators will see that we are not worth our own Forum and remove it completely. Something that was working perfectly ok has become destroyed because we have to do things differently here i.e make the Forum into a chat room.

I have done a bit of research and for those who like a good old chat Lycos has a chatroom dedicated to Ireland or there is a Philosophy room where people can chat about anything and everything under the sun.

    I take it you've read this post - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/938931 ?

Yes I did read it and within it it says 'If someone asks a question which is Northern Ireland related, albeit not necessarily money related, the post stays here in the meantime before it gets moved to another board.'

My question is when, if ever, are ther non-money related posts moved to another board? I have not seen any examples recently?

Well, I guess that means that the users aren't doing anything wrong.

The posts relating to Northern Ireland, even if they are not money related, are being posted on the forum by the users. It's the forum administrators that are choosing not to move them.

Or could it be that as this is a money saving web site there are no other Forums within the site that the Administrator can move them to?

For example what Forum would you put gay blood donations into? Or the clangers? Or TV presenters?

Answers on a postcard to the administrator.

It seems threads are being moved from the NI area to the discussion area where they're dying a death.

What threads have been moved? I scrolled back and could not see any that had been moved.

Plus does that not reinforce the point that as no one is interested in them on other Forums they are not relevant to a money saving web site?

    The 'culture' thread.

Most if not all of our threads are of no interest to a primarily English audience which is why they should remain here if the rules can permit?
