I think the forum is fine just the way it is ..I see no harm in anyone posting general topics I have done so myself many times and I am about to again :-) it is Northern Ireland we are known to moan.

Glyn, just to clarify *AGAIN* - I didn't "continue complaining" as you say; I was merely clarifying my position that I'm not completely against all non-moneysaving threads (as you'll notice I've participated in quite a few of them!); just a wee bit of common sense in filtering out topics that would just end in arguments, generalisations and name-calling wouldn't go amiss.

And in case you're wondering, I voted for 2 options in the poll, and one of them wasn't a separate area for chit-chat. :-)

In fairness D.A, having had a quick look at your posting history you do seem to be very unhappy with life. Glynn is a breath of fresh air on this forum and long may it continue.

It's just my opinion but Glynn has taken the time to PM me and welcome me to the forum - he seems like a great person, is there any need for your bitterness?

I know I said I had nothing more to add to the discussion but I must take issue with the comparison of this site to moneysupermarket and this is what happens when we move the thrust of the discussions away from money saving to general chit chat. The upshot is that we loose sight of what the site is really about.

There are loads of excelllent examples of great money saving ideas and tips on here and examples of people with real money issues and concerns which they can discuss freely on this site and seek the advise of others. If we loose sight of that then this site merely becomes a talking shop about anything and everything and those people who genuinely have real money issues and concerns loose out. It must be galling for someone about to loose their home or job and who find it extremely difficult to make ends meet to sign on here and hear people having a chit chat about what is making the news or TV programmes.

I suggest those who want a chit chat room set one up, get advertisers to advertise on it and then flog it to some multi national like Martin did and make your fortune.

Just wanted to end my post on a money saving theme. And I am not having a dig at anyone but making a general comment.
    Val :)

Sure there are specific sections of the forum where specific concerns can be addressed.

Having a chit chat on here hardly stops people getting the advice or guidance they need.

Cost of a glass of coke? We haven't just got to those depths yet but Glynn may just start such a thread.
