People, please. This isn't a popularity contest, as I've said before. Nobody has to like anybody. I don't want a following, not here, not anywhere. All I want is to post helpful consumer comments where I can and air discussion points when I can't.

I repeat - I am not a hardliner. I'm a moderate who hasn't voted since 1991 because I can't see anyone I want to vote for. My personal comments are guided by actual history. I don't pander to either side.

It would seem Glyn that some people on here find the rational middle ground, based on sound research and thought, as opposed to jumping on whichever bandwagon they support, as boring and patronising and attention seeking. You are well aware there are a solid bunch who value your discussions and enjoy contributing.

Thanks ever so much John. I was starting to feel quite isolated there. :)

There's no need for making personal comments - ever! The forum is here for us to help others by posting helpful information and to enjoy a little discussion and banter. No one poster is better than another. As I said before I just happen to have a little more time on my hands than some. :)

And to think, some people wanted to do away with chit chat on the NI forum, the English, Welsh and Scottish can't be having this much fun.

Although I often disagree with you - I respect your opinion - at least more so than the opinion you normally get in NI, which is often based on nothing other than - its British, so I don't like it, or it's Irish - so I don't like it.

In saying that I think you place too much emphais on integration and on your experience of the 60's/70's of Northern Ireland being the perfect place.

I respect your opinion. I enjoy our discussions. We're never going to agree on everything but hearing your opinions help me re-evaluate my own in some cases.

I think we are seeing the outworking of what happens when the thread becomes a talking shop or a discussion forum for topical issues in N Ireland. I am still of the belief that the threads in the N Ireland room should be related solely to money saving ideas and tips.

I notice that in other Forums on the site the moderator or Board Guide removes innappropraite posts that are not relevant. Why does that not happen in this Forum? Should we not ask the Board Guide to adjudicate on what can and cannot be discussed here rather than have a poll which is loaded in that there is only 1 option to keep discussions related to money saving (which is the name of the site), and 3 others to move away from that position. Surely the poll, if it had to have been done (which I think no one had the right to do without permission from the Board Guide) it should have been a straight yes or no question.

This Forum has descended into a name-calling, digging-your-heels in, mindless waste of space and with a bit of luck some of the moderators will see that we are not worth our own Forum and remove it completely. Something that was working perfectly ok has become destroyed because we have to do things differently here i.e make the Forum into a chat room.

I have done a bit of research and for those who like a good old chat Lycos has a chatroom dedicated to Ireland or there is a Philosophy room where people can chat about anything and everything under the sun.
    Val :)
