Cost of a glass of coke? We haven't just got to those depths yet but Glynn may just start such a thread.

Easy mate easy. It isn't a popularity contest. :)

I appreciate your comments but I just happen to be unfortunate enough to be ill and able to spend more time here than you industrious posters. Please don't build me up ahead of anyone else here. :)

Glynn's okay but some of his views are so hard line that I could never subscribe to them and I do laugh when he holds himself up as a beckon of hope in relation to an integrated society.

Of course if you're so conscious about doing things by the book maybe I should point out that you have taken this thread off-topic.

I just can't see how this topic can be justified as 'money saving'. Is this a chat room to chat about anything and everything relating to N Ireland or a website to advise people on money saving ideas? Is this the virtual arm of the Nolan Show discussing topical issues of the day?

Personally I think that the site loses its true meaning if we end up discussing TV presenters, the use of the word 'wee', court cases, the first minister loosing his marbles, gay blood donors etc etc. Whilst interesting what has any of that got to do with real money saving tips and idea and helping those who find money tight? They probably have more pressing things on their mind than court cases in Londonderry.

Agreed, there's enough discussion, local news elsewhere. Keep this discussion to local moneysaving rather than diluting the true intention of this forum.

Set up your own forum for general NI discussion if you want.

The point is this is a money saving Forum so where do we draw the line. Have I missed something and this has become a chatroom or a room where we all gather to gossip about some tragedy that happened to a poor family in Castlerock which has resulted in legal action. What is there to discuss? Let the courts decide and let us stop raking up the past.

Do we now talk about the Northern Ireland football team? Or the weather? Or what was on telly last night? Or those brides who trash their wedding dresses (at least we could discuss if it is a waste of money or not). Or what about the Christmas tree that went up in October?

If we fill this Forum with idle chit chat genuine users will switch off and those with real money saving tips, or those who need money saving help and advice will have nowhere to turn to.

    Or buy the Ulster Tatler . . . . . . if you're looking at local gossip.

There are plenty of other local based forums on which to express yourself - I personally do not have any interest in tittle tattle . . . . :rotfl:

Says someone who is posting about how "great" the "Great British Bake Off" is.

Ironically I started a number of NI angled threads in the Arm's forum and they were moved to here. Reason being, people outside of NI were uninterested.
  • I really enjoy this section of MSE- and have received great advice - both in terms of money saving- and personal issues (of which I would apologies in advance, knowing it to be non-money related)

I dont really use any other forums other than digitalspy-and I dont know any other 'alive' NI forums- so if anyone does- please let me know and will check them out:)

But I like it here, I think it is lively and helpful, and must admit, there are some cracking arguments:D

I'm here you know  You can direct your comments to me personally.

I'm as far from a hard liner as you can get and I certainly don't hold myself up as anything. I'm far too ordinary for that.

One thing I don't ever do however is snipe at other posters. ;)
