OH and I had our fly jabs on Friday. For the first time we were all aches and pains by late Friday.

I was offered the pneumonia injection two years ago, in a very peremptory way. It was unexpected and unexplained so I declined. Last year we were just about to go,to Vietnam, so didn't want to risk any side effects.

    Not offered this year.

  • Booked my flu jab given an appointment time of 11.17. I said that's very specific, admin lady said we are doing one a minute. I complimented her on the efficiency of the service then asked tongue in cheek about the patient experience, she said, falling about laughing there is'nt one, I joined in laughing! Good to know the NHS is so efficient.

Surprised when I phoned my surgery that they are having a drop-in clinic on Saturday morning. Hope it isn't too long a wait and they have enough staff.

I must ring and book mine, they offer blocks of appointments, x people in this 15 minute slot and so on. They take over the church hall, have 4-5 staff each with a table and a line of chairs around them, you arrive, give your name, get ticked off the list, and are sent to the person with the shortest queue. Once jabbed, you're supposed to sit on a different line of chairs for 10 minutes until any danger of passing out is over.

I usually wander through to the church where they have coffee and cakes on sale in aid of some charity or another, if I'm going to pass out I'll be close enough to be noticed ...

That sounds very relaxed and sociable, almost harks back to war time spirit, not that I would know, way to young.

Our surgery also books them at I minute intervals. Last year OH and I went in together, in and out 5 minutes before appointment time. Highly efficient. They do them on Saturdays so don't take up surgery space/time (sounds like Dr Who:rotfl:)
