  • i have been advised to have flu jab, appointment made, but just found out that its derived from pigs, is this true? and if so is it advisable to have it

Apparently it does contain pig gelatine but there is an alternative jab (offering less protection) that does not contain this. I would ak your pharmacist.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

    Possible but unlikely.

The flu vaccine isn't recommended if you currently have a bug/virus so that is the more likely reason he was asking.

Had mine at Occupational Health yesterday morning.

They also have a jab truck which is wheeled through the hospital during the day.

There's some sort of a government cash incentive to have a certain percentage of staff vaccinated by a certain date.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

They Have to predict what flu Virus will be around each winter there are thousands they usually get it right anyway the vacccine is a dead virus and cannot give you flu it is probable that people who feel ill after having it were getting ill anyway

It Helps boost your immune system so if you do get flu it is only mild

No, it's a standard question, asked every year.
