I would also add that the person who reconciles the petty cash isn't the one who hands it out
Well that's normally accounts who reconcile it. But still you can run it and rec it and still be the same person as if its run correctly they can't fix it against anyone but themselves.

So how did you know there would be enough to pay for your parcel?

Educated guess? I just knew there was more than enough. In hindsight I should have stopped what I was doing gone upstairs and got money from my purse, to then find mi didn't have it and left my parcel for another day.

If I could go back I would.

I don't think this can be sorted. I think that's why im so down.

If I'm honest I know I've screwed up and know ill have to find a new job.

Doesn't stop me hating myself for it.

That's a shame. If your answer was 'I wasn't expecting it to come out of petty cash particularly bearing in mind he said not to worry about it, inferring that he had paid it out of his money' then that might have helped you.

Monty your partners advice seems very sensible. I think you need to listen to them, after all they know you in RL and have a better idea of what is going on in your life. Don't worry I am sure things will be fine in the end and you may be glad it happened after all, it is funny how things turn out for the best.

Have you thought of what to say when asked why you used company money for personal use?

    Think about it.

If you give believable answers with supported reasons you may end up with no more than a warning.

I don't know what to say. It wasn't intentional as I explained, I thought I had money upstairs, if that money was in his pocket instead of my purse, regardless of which physical money paid for the postage, as long as it was all sorted before it was paid into the till I didn't think it mattered.

    It was unintentional.

Sorry if that sounds lame but I don't know what else to say.

Exactly. She is going to be beaten to a pulp by a disciplinary process. But all the kind words and tea in China will only help her feel better about being beaten to a pulp in a disciplinary.

What you are not getting is that people have been trying to do their best to help fend off the disciplinary. At least the questions get us to the point where we have enough information to know that some things suggested will not do.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

I'm not going to beat it off or try to blame anyone. In my own mind I do blame my deputy for reporting me. I saved his skin not long ago because I thought that was the right and supportive thing to do. I think unless its very serious, you should have each others backs. I don't mean in cahoots, I just mean help each other and not let mistakes happen.

Ill face what I've done. But I need some time to get better and less notional first. I'm not strong enough to face it yet.
