The question will be asked at a disciplinary.
As it is against company policy why did you take company money for personal use?
The repayment part is irrelevant to that question.
This is the sort of question you will have to deal with so forewarned is forearmed.0 -
I have to ask.
You took £30 out of the till, and it was given to assistant mgr to spend...so what was the potential cost of that spend in the first place? Surely if it was going to be less than £20 you would, only have taken £20 out. So if it was going to be more that that, where was the additional money for your parcel going to come from?Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -
No because if you sign for an IOU and someone who didn't like you (like in the OPs case) who runs the PC 'miss places' the receipts the IOU stands and you owe the petty cash.
You do not run a petty cash by letting any old tom !!!!!! or harry put the receipts back in the tin. It should be run by 2 people max and the correct way is issue and IOU for the cash taken and then when receipts come back the change and receipts add up to the iou and you tear it up.
On the petty cash slip you write the amount spent per item and what it was for attaching the receipts to the slip.
I would also add that the person who reconciles the petty cash isn't the one who hands it out2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

I am not blaming you at all and the only one to gain is the deputy here.
The till then in effect was down and should not really have been an IOU at all.
Put it to the disciplinary that the deputy told you 'not to bother'
Not to bother sounds to me as if he had taken it out of his own money . Otherwise it's not up to him is it.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -
I know I'm running away with myself, it's because I deteste myself for what I've done. I work so hard to provide for my family and I'd never risk my job. I don't have much savings as I put most of it into the deposit and legal fees for our house. I'm just re building a small reserve.
I feel ashamed.
I have talked it over with my partner, he thinks I should find a new job, go to the meeting and tell them to shove it. After all they have not offered me much support since coming back from my accident. He hates me working such long hours, I come home like a zombie.
I can't stop crying when I think about it because I loved my job. And it's the first time in years I've enjoyed work. But I keep going back to the fact I don't like the people I work with or the long hours.
I'm sorry I've gone on and on, I just feel like I'm broken inside.
One stupid mistake could cost me so much. And I don't think I deserve it.0 -

And I told him I would pay it back, he told me not to bother and I said I'm not like that, I'd never use company money to pay my post. I said those exact words.
Except he is now suffering from selective memory. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

I had no idea how much the post would be. There was a few things to post and I also asked him to buy a book of stamps but he didn't. These were for the store not for me.0 -
Don't you all get it ? Monty is in a terrible state and needs some comforting words off us not a Spanish inquisition. For goodness sake ppl have a little kindness and compassion . Can't you all see how vulnerable Monty is?xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

So how did you know there would be enough to pay for your parcel?Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -
Ahh! Now we have the relevant facts. Your parcel reciept should never have gone in. Now you are caught red handed. I retract my suggestions as to how to argue this - although I stand by the idea that your deputy was stitching you up.
I know it shouldn't have gone in. But then the till would be £10 down. So rock and hard place. Either way it's a big mess.0
