Hi everyone,
Recently I noticed I've put on a fair amount of weight, I don't eat awfully and exercise moderately but I'm struggling to shift the weight.
I didn't mind being a bit bigger but I've got a family do coming up and don't want to be the chubby girl in the corner; so now I'm looking to shift some pounds!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, would also appreciate some success stories as I need some motivation!
Thanks in advance!

IVe recently started kettlebells, and have noticed a small difference after 1 month, i walk fast on the treadmill for 30mins 5 days a week also, and kettlebells 3 times a week.
Kettlebells are actually quite fun to train with.0 -
Cut out all sweets, chocolate, biscuits, cake, pastry, fizzy drinks, alcohol, ready meals, and anything with added sugar. These are not food, they are junk. If you must snack between meals choose healthy food, like fruit and nuts, and salad, otherwise don't snack. Prepare all food at home to take out with you. No calling in coffee shops, cafe's, snack bars, or buying sandwiches. Make your own healthy lunches, salad in a box.
Get off you bum and walk for an hour each day. Not an amble, or a stroll, but fast power striding.
Good luck, success depends on your determination.

Try the 5:2 diet. It is more sustainable than a restrictive diet. See thread on this board. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I am not qualified to advise on weight loss but I am still overweight. However I have been using the fasting method and I can say it works. I have lost just over a stone so far and more importantly over and inch and half of my gut. Its not difficult although fast days do require some willpower.

Don't know how mse you need to be but I'm a huge fan of Slimming World. It's not really a diet more of a healthy way of eating. It might give you the focus you need. Take a look at the 7 day sample diet on the SW site. It really works!!
There's a lovely, supportive thread on here about SW.

I lost 62lbs in a year. I looked round for a lifestyle change as opposed to a diet. I ended up with cutting out wheat, rye, barley and oats as my daughter is Coeliac. I started off with no exercise as that just made me hungry and I ate more. I also cut down on carbohydrates in the form of potatoes and fruit.
Do not worry about eating fat in the form of butter, coconut oil and from fresh meat. Cutting down on carbohydrates/sugar means that your body will burn fat for energy instead, meaning no cravings for food and less actual hunger.
So, no processed foods, just freshly prepared meat and vegetables, cut right down on carbohydrates and just have fruit occasionally.
IMHO, treats are a must. I have 25gms of 70% cocoa solid chocolate every day and drink wine three days a week. Diets are a short term solution and most people just go back to the way they were. The key is to pick a food regime you can live with for the rest of your life. I miss Marmite on toast and French stick but I'm happy with the vast selection of foods I do eat, like my two large egg omelette with either spinach or mushrooms fried in butter or coconut oil every morning. 450 nutritious, tasty calories that easily keep me going 'til lunch time.
With regards to exercise, high intensity strength training is the way to go as lean muscle burns more calories than fat. Walking is also good with the occasional high intensity sprint/row/swim/cycle or whatever (say once or twice a week). Apart from walking I spend no more than half an hour a week doing exercise. Unless you actually enjoy it, jogging, cycling etc for hours on end is just a waste of time.
Eating this way also makes it easier to do the occasional fast for a couple of meals or even a whole day to add impetus to weight loss. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.
