  • I've lost 12lb in about a month with the help of a supplement from here http://amiweightloss.com/, I use Formula 4 which really seemed to kick start things and keep me on track and motivated I also eat 3 sensible meals a day and no snacking but no exercise either:o, only another 7lbs or so to go and I feel amazing:D, good luck it, its really worth sticking with it:)
  • The simple trick to losing weight is to burn more calories than consuming...of course thats easier said than done! So you need some form of appetite supressant...grenade thermo capsules really do work and don't contain ephederine or any other heart rate increasing stimulant.     Hi everybody!

    Thanks for all your wonderful posts, they've all been helpful and since I've lost a pound! It isn't a lot but it's a start. I've got a new plan that I'll be implementing tomorrow so hopefully I'll arrive at my goal weight before I know it :)

  • I've been dieting and exercising for over a year now and have lost 2 and a half stone. However, I constantly plateau and if I stray slightly I put weight on.

    My mam knows someone who has had great success with The Harcombe Diet. There is no calorie counting and the use of exercise is to keep fit as opposed to losing weight. Yes, this isn't a popular concept as it turns eating less, exercise more on it's head.

    It's hard to explain how this works. My mam bought me the book, however, I have looked on the internet and found the website. Worth taking a look.

    Have you tried intermittent fasting when you plateau? When I hit one, I gave up my Sunday evening meal and that started the weight loss again. Also, as one gets lighter, the body requires less calories to keep it going so the calorie intake needs reducing too. I fully understand that some foods (carbohydrates/sugar) are more likely to put weight on than others (fresh meat & vegetables) but making sure the intake is less than maintenance still helps.

    With regards to exercise, high intensity strength training is the way to go as lean muscle burns more calories than fat. Walking is also good with the occasional high intensity sprint/row/swim/cycle or whatever (say once or twice a week). Apart from walking I spend no more than half an hour a week doing exercise. Unless you actually enjoy it, jogging, cycling etc for hours on end is just a waste of time.

    Eating this way also makes it easier to do the occasional fast for a couple of meals or even a whole day to add impetus to weight loss.

    Your weight loss is amazing! With what seems to be a reasonable diet plan. It makes sense really to make it a life change and not just a quick fix. It'd be nice just to feel healthier in general.

    Another benefit of the way I eat. Colds do not knock me out like they used to and although I know if I've got one, it really doesn't bother me. I also have not had a migraine since March last year and I used to get one every two or three months.

  • the harcombe detox is quite grueling from the start, but once you've completed that part of it you settle down into it, it does become part of your daily routine. (and you can lose some impressive lbs in the first week accompanied by some fat burning workouts).

    My wife has started to workout, she has chosen to workout with a video by Devina McCall 3 30 min workouts, my wife is not fussed on core strength as she is just getting into her second week of it but does the pumps and cardiobox, she's lost 3lbs in 8 days, she does the workout at different times so there's no set time in a day she worksout, she's now making changes to her eating and drinking habits, cut out fizzy pops, cut out energy drinks, crisps, she makes home cooked meals for herself 3 times a day, and eats fruit or raw veg such as carrots or banana as snacks don't eat out no more either we haven't had a chinease or a bab or food chain stuffs in a few weeks, no processed foods either.

    Watch your portion sizes. Ive lost 2 stones since the end of May by cutting down on portion sizes. Also, I dont eat loads of bread generally but I do still eat potatoes. I also eat wholemeal pasta. Up your veg intake. Also drink plenty of water.

    Its easy to say eat less, exercise more, but its the quality of the calories that you are taking in that matters. Also a lot of people, particularly women end up doing far too much cardio.

    I do classes such as thump boxing which is similar to boxercise, I also do body attack and the new les mills grit strength classes. Im also going to start to do more gym workouts as well, lifting weights. I also do kettlebell classes and occasionally spinfit.

    If you do eat carbs, eat them in the evening rather than in the morning. Im very much an all or nothing person when it comes to treats so I dont have junk food in the house. I do still eat fruit, but Ive always eaten more veg than fruit as it tends to be cheaper.

    Ive stopped drinking wine purely due to the amount of carbs it contains, but you can buy wines that have less of an ABV, for example a bottle of wine thats 4 per cent will have 3 alcohol units per bottle.

    And also, its normal to plateau and its normal for your weight to go up and down over the course of losing weight, with me the first stone came off easily and the second took twice as long and the next one will take longer still so dont worry if your weight loss isnt just steady constant losing, even if you go up and down over the weeks or months thats totally natural.
  • My tip is - don't do excersise for the sake of it, if you don't enjoy it or it gets too repetitive you won't stick to it (I managed to last 6 weeks going to a gym, hated it after 2 weeks :-)

    Instead I took up a martial art which I'd always fancied having a go at but was worried I was too big. I am still going now 5 years later, slimmer, fitter & a black belt :-)

    So - if there's an activity or sport you're intrested in & like to do, go for it!
