  • Regarding the RVTL scam. We have obtained a telephone number you can ring : 0203 3566290. This apparently is the customer services number. Good luck!

Ok, we've all done something silly in the past but this is neither the time nor the place to 'crow' over the misfortune of others. What is needed here is genuine, helpful advice and information. For instance, has anyone had any success in getting a refund and how can this be achieved ? It goes without saying that this company and many others like them are making huge sums of money from naive people and also from very sophisticated 'fraud' tecniques, but apart from trying to warn people off, the only positive thing to do is to help the victims get their money back!

I have now been charged £379.90 by this immoral, if not illegal, company. I did try phoning them but each time I explained about the payment being taken the phone was promptly put down on me.
I phoned them again today (02030144036) and they insist that it is clearly marked on the website that it's a 14 day trial followed by regular shipments. They gave me an email address of customerservice@equinoxbeauty.com but that domain comes up as For Sale so I didn't waste my time sending the email.
Santander has been no help, they say that "recurring transactions" have to be paid so although I have raised dispute with them over the charges there is no guarantee that I can get my money back from them either.
You'd think I would learn but I''ve been caught again by the same thing with Raspberry Ketone Blast. The phone number on my credit card payment (02030145440) goes to the same company and initially the rep said my account was for the Equinox stuff and he knew nothing about Raspberry Ketone but when I pressed him he went away to check and 'discovered' my account.
Never, Never, Never sign up for a "Free" sample.

As soon as I received these 'free samples', it was apparent that they were very cheap and shoddy, so I went online to find all this ****. I immediately contacted my bank (Halifax) and asked whether I should cancel my debit card and/or transfer all my funds to another account. Apparently, if there aren't sufficient funds in your declared account, the B******s are able to take money from others you have! Unbelievable. Good news, I hope it's true, is that I was assured that if the company did take money from my account, then the bank would reimburse me. I'm hoping that the call was recorded.
Feel such a fool; this is not like me at all; still working out how they managed to con me.

edarlingb - as far as I'm aware, unless the company provides evidence that you agreed to the charges, and you haven't broken any Ts and Cs of your account, then the bank should refund. They usually send you a declaration to complete that states you didn't agree to the charges, and that they have been taken from your account without permission.

If you want more info on refunds, etc, you might be better off asking in the Consumer Rights forum:

TBH smearing lard all over your face would have pretty much the same effect as the most expensive face creams.
  • I am very worried because I believe I sent for a face cream which was recommended on the MoneysavingExpert site on 16th July. I can't now find the offer on the site. I thought I was ordering a sample of a reputable face cream, but they have taken two payments of £2.99 and £4.95 from my credit card.
Would MoneySavingExpert please check that this scam is not put on their site again?
I have contacted my credit card company tonight to stop any further payments to the scam company.
