Sorry, I didn't reply yesterday, I've been working and in meetings most of the day.
I'd love to be able to reply to everyone that PMs and emails me and posts on the forum at all, let alone within 24 hours, but I'm afraid I can't.
Before the discussion continues could I ask you all to have a look at the weekly email? It's been linking to lots of forum content every week for 10 years and is received by 8 million people who can forward it on, tweet it, facebook it etc.
a perfect example of a reply that actually doesn't address the Question!0 -

No idea, if that was supposed to be answer, deary me! Take a look at the weekly email! - for what?
I assume it's something to do with the big Facebook and Twitter buttons, and the email one.
But all they do is post a link, they don't republish any MSE users copyrighted post text.
Think MSE staffers (or someone with future plans for the site) are too obsessed with Facebook and Twitter, losing the plot, lost the focus for MSE, fast degenerating into low life drivel. Where's the quality control, self respecting standards for what MSE was set up for?
Will Martin Lewis be on the radio and telly next week to advise on pooing in other peoples houses? If not, why not? It's on MSE and being used to promote the site. It's deemed a hot topic good enough to highlight for the MSE audience, so Martin should discuss it publicly - if this is what he's about.
Think Martin Lewis may want to distance himself from this site sooner than he intended.0 -
I think bottom line is, once you write something on here, it belongs to MSE and they can post it wherever they like, if they wanted to. That's why it's so important to retain your personal anonymity on here. That's unless you're quite happy being identified.
I don't do facebook and twitter, and have no intention of joining either site. All a Twitter twit would see is my ramblings on here and my user-name.
If anyone feels they may have written things that may identify them, and/or they're not happy with what they've written being available to Twitter users, you might have to delete your posts (or ask the MSE team to do so)0 -
People who've been using MSE for years and racked up 100's if not thousands of posts will have rather a lot of deleting to do, then :rotfl:0

I took the point to be that the email that we get sent weekly can be accessed by millions of people and already links to content posted on this forum.
Which would suggest that this forum isnt as private as some people think it is.0 -

You seem to be a little bit obsessed.
You can always leave, you know?0 -
The point is - I post on the MSE forum and those interested enough to find MSE are welcome to read the posts - now do I want it linked to effbook or Twitter? No, because I hated effbook and took myself off it. and as for Twitter - I know very little about it other than it seems to be a place for accumulating 'followers'. and isn't a forum.0

So you have two choices - 1. Leave (as you said you were but you're still here) or 2. Stay and realise that you may be posted on Twitter.
It's really that simple.0
