..... a note for the people who say "the space under the seat in front of you is yours"... that is not true if you are at an emergency exit row.....

Emergency exit row passengers get priority boarding and get an early opportunity to place their bag in the overhead locker so are unlikely to need to use space anywhere else.

    Not necessarily.
Priority boarding does not force a person to board first, just gives them the opportunity to. Also, if a flight is full, someone who has not paid for an emergency exit row (and priority boarding), might be allocated a seat there if it is the only one left.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
  • But where does it say that you can do this?
I think that's the point of the thread.
Nowhere (that I've seen) does it say that in the event your hand luggage has to go in the hold, that you can remove certain items and take them on board.
I think we all agree that common sense would suggest that this would be allowed, but nowhere is this categorically stated.

Yes, exactly. Nowhere is this stated (apart from in richardw's post)
Clarification from Easyjet would be helpful.

You have hit the nail on the head. I have no objections to the rules. I just want complete clarity somewhere on EasyJet's web site (terms and conditions) stating what happens to neccessities like hanbags and medicines etc in your hand luggage is taken off you. I know it should be common sense, but you only need to get an over officious member of staff and everything is taken off you as mentioned in earlier forum as that is what happened at Gibraltar airport. I think it only fair to customers this specific point should be covered on EasyJets website, stating catagorically what is and is not allowed if your hand luggage is taken off you. Then there could be no dispute or complaints. Just saying you should take the smaller size case is not the answer as customers should know exactly where they stand on this issue.

EJ may well do this more than I've seen but of 6 flights with them this year, I'm yet to see them make people put bags in the hold, I've seen them ask people and I've seen some people do it and some refuse but I've not seen them enforce it.

I have been on one return flight this year southend/Krakow and the ruling was enforced on the return leg for some passangers but not all

Hopeless, the smile answer is if you take the smaller bag, they guarantee it, if you take a bigger one, then it will depend on a long list of variables that mean you can't have a 1 line rule on it. No promises, no guarantees means just that. You should consider yourself lucky or fortunate if you are allowed to take a larger bag on board and not be demanding any rights, because you'll have none.
Dies that make it any clearer, or are you still going to think up a complex scenario and want an answer that will apply 100% of the time? Because the answer is, there isn't one simple answer, there can't be.

That's not a helpful post at all. Clearly the OP wants to know precisely what the rules are because there is currently ambiguity and uncertainty. Please read the thread properly before posting such an unhelpful response.

......Just saying you should take the smaller size case is not the answer....

BUT that is easyJet's implied view on this if you have a browse through their FAQs, I doubt you'll get anything else out of them.

Don't forget that their Cabin crew are reasonable people and don't want you on their flight without your medicines with you in the cabin.

Your post is even less helpful!

The rules are... If you want to guarantee that your bag goes in the cabin, then it must be the smaller size. After that, they will give no guarantee. They cannot make a hard and fast rule, because it will vary from one flight to the next, depending on space.
Surely common sense has to kick in somewhere, or did that go out the window when we started to have more lawyers than teachers?

That's not the OP's question. You need to read it again.

"But I need my medication with me or I'll be ill"

"Tough, it has to go in the hold"

Can't see that conversation happening. Except on Ryanair.
